Gala-concert of the Eurasia Star Song Contest performed in Ashgabat

The new round of the Eurasia Star International Song Contest brought together the winners of the national rounds in the Turkmen capital. Turkmenistan was represented at this contest of talented young artists from Turkic countries by Sohbet Kasymov, who had won the national qualification rounds and the final in our country.

The countries participating in the contest take turns to host the international qualification rounds. The concerts have been performed live in Northern Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey, where our singer Sohbet Kasymov successfully performed and met with warm support from the international audience.

Turkmenistan welcomed the participants of the international contest last week.


According to the contest rules, six finalists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Northern Cyprus, Turkey and our country performed two songs song in the language of the hosting country and in their native language.

The gala concert in each country was performed on live television. Viewers sent SMS for participants they liked most. Judges and televoters cannot vote for their own country's artist.

Ashgabat is the sixth and the last city where the caravan of youth music had visited. The grand final of the Eurasia Start International Song Contest will take place in Istanbul. The winner will be declared after the points that the jury awarded to each participant and the points participating artists received in the SMS-voting are summed up. Together with honorary title of the Eurasia Star, the winner will receive monetary prizes from the organizers.

The Eurasia Start International Contest is held for the first time. Its main aim is to strengthen the ties of friendship between Turkic peoples.

This is a new splendid opportunity for Turkmenistan to present its rich culture and art on the big international stage.
