President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Turkmenistan Broadcasting Centre where he appeared on national television as a candidate in the February 12 presidential election and presented the election programme. Also, the Turkmen leader visited the Broadcasting Centre to see state-of-the-art equipment in the studios and the territories adjacent to the Broadcasting Centre building.
As was reported, the incumbent President of Turkmenistan was registered as a presidential candidate last week. It should be noted that in accordance with national laws and norms of international law, all presidential candidates are provided with the equal rights and opportunities to meet with their electorates and conduct the canvassing campaign in the mass media as well. Exercising this right, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov appeared on national television to present his election programme.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited one of the studios in the Turkmenistan Broadcasting Centre. The Turkmen leader paid close attention to devices and equipment used in the studio, its design and the conditions created for making TV programmes. In this regard it should be noted that technical ‘stuffing’ of the Turkmenistan Broadcasting Centre allows producing as well as broadcasting television and radio programmes in the studios.
Underlining the importance of using most effectively and efficiently state-of-the-art equipment and devices in the studios of the Broadcasting Centre, the President emphasized that television and radio programmes produced there should meet quality standards, be interesting, highly artistic, thematically diverse and rich in content and have special audio and visual effects. In this context the major requirements made to all local specialists include high proficiency level and creative approach to preparing television and radio programmes that should reflect the spirit of modern times and be interesting for the television and radio audiences.
The Government would take further measures to modernize the telecommunications sector, develop the television and radio industries, purchase innovative technologies and equipment for the national television and radio channels and develop infrastructure meeting international standards. In this context the Turkmen leader gave specific instructions to Chairman of the State Committee for Television, Radio and Cinematography, Sh. Alovov. Touching upon the design of studios, the Turkmen leader said it should harmoniously combine current trends and age-old traditions in decorative art.
Then the Turkmen leader left the Broadcasting Centre building and walked around the territory adjacent to the Broadcasting Centre that provided a panoramic view of the Turkmen capital. Noting that the new TV tower is one of the tourist attractions in Ashgabat, the President suggested building a section of the aerial tramway in this locality so that citizens and guests of the Turkmen capital could make ‘aerial’ journeys and enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains and the dynamically developing main city of the country.
The Turkmen leader suggested considering the possibilities to lay out a recreation area where people could spend their leisure time and recreate. The President particularly suggested building an aerial tramway station there and stretching it farther to the Kopetdag Mountain ridges where an alpine skiing track covered with artificial ice and outdoor skating-rink, many sports grounds, cultural and entertainment centres, cosy parks with footpaths and places for meditation can be built. In a word, the benefits of the mountain environment should be fully used so that people could enjoy visiting this place.
Noting that the unique architectural solution of the Broadcasting Centre building makes it a visiting card of Ashgabat, some kind of symbol of Turkmenistan’s aspirations to new heights of creativity and progress, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the relevant high-ranking officials regarding the improvement and planting trees in the territory adjacent to the Broadcasting Centre building. In this context the Turkmen leader demanded that the favourable working conditions be created at the Broadcasting Centre for specialists of the national TV and radio channels. The Turkmen leader bade farewell to those present and left the Turkmenistan Broadcasting Centre.
