President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the State Drugs Agency of Turkmenistan on the fourth anniversary of the establishment. In his congratulatory address the Turkmen leader wished the personnel of the State Drugs Agency every success in their important activities for the benefit and stability of the independent Motherland and the development of a healthy society.
The President emphasized that the State Agency of Drugs of Turkmenistan was established to facilitate the implementation of the national strategy for combating illicit drug trafficking and concert efforts of health and education institutions, local governments, law enforcement and military agencies and public organisations in this sphere.
Our country takes effective measures as consistent with the work plan on combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors and providing assistance to the persons addicted to drugs and psychotropic substances for 2011-2015 to combat illicit trafficking in these substances, prevent drug abuse provide assistance to narcotic drug addicts and promote a healthy lifestyle. In accordance with the plan of actions in this sphere our country carries out the large-scale work in close collaboration with foreign states as well as the United Nations, the OSCE and the Central Asia Regional Information and Coordination Centre under the proposed programmes and projects.
Turkmenistan also takes an active part in the international drug control agreements regionally and globally. The election of Turkmenistan to the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs for the period of 2012-2015 is vivid evidence for the worldwide recognition of the policy our state pursues in this sphere making a profound contribution to addressing urgent challenges of the modern world, emphasized the Turkmen leader.
It is noted in the congratulatory address that the firm actions our country takes in this sphere serve as a new decisive step to promote spiritual and physical health of the nation and vivid evidence for the practical implementation of the principle “a state for the people”.
