The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan are being held in Beijing these days. This cultural action gives citizens and guests of the Chinese capital city a splendid opportunity to learn about the artistic traditions and heritage of our people, the modern art of Turkmen nation.

The opening ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan took place at Tianjiao Theatre, which is one of the main attractions of the capital of China. The participants, including representatives of government agencies and general public of China, diplomatic missions accredited to the country, prominent artists and cultural workers and journalists extended genuine warmth and hospitality, welcoming the delegation of artists from Turkmenistan with.

After the opening ceremony had concluded, cultural and art workers of Turkmenistan held the gala concert, the programme of which was composed of the works from the treasury of Turkmen and world music. Folk melodies, buoyant dances, colourful compositions presenting the customs and rituals of our people captured the spectators, who warmly and loudly applauded every artist. They welcomed with admiration Merdan orchestra, Galkynysh dance ensemble, Dehistan folk group and Turkmen opera and popular signers. Colourful costumes, melodies of the national musical instruments, exciting songs and precise movements of dancers allowed the audience to feel the spirit of ancient and eternally young Turkmenistan.

The culmination of the concert was the performance of the ancient ritual dance kushtdepti that added some spectacular and colourful touches to the collective image of our country mosaicked from choreographic and musical patterns.

A meeting with the members of the Turkmen delegation and the heads of cultural institutions was held at the Ministry of Culture of China. It focused on the promising areas of cooperation in culture and arts and the possibilities to hold new joint cultural actions, promote artistic exchanges, etc.

An exhibition of decorative art pieces and museum collections that showcased the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people was arranged at the National Museum of China. Cultural and art workers of the two countries held bilateral meetings.
