This holiday is a sign of profound trust our state gives to the Armed Forces to perform the very important mission and evidence for the concern for the unceasing concern for them. On this solemn day I express firm belief that you will faithfully perform your military duty setting brilliant example of fidelity to the military oath and protect the peaceful life of the country and sacred independence as the apple of the eye. This trust is the trust of the beloved Motherland and people. Let it enhance the pride of the honorary title of the defenders of the Fatherland, the sacred military duty in the soul of each of you!

We marked the glorious 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan with labour victories, outstanding achievements and the enhanced prestige of the country and our solidary people. It should be noted that the Armed Forces standing as the great bulwark of the Motherland and people significantly contribute to the successes of our country in the economic, political and cultural spheres.
The history of the Armed Forces of neutral Turkmenistan is inseparable linked with the history of our sovereign state. After gaining independence the honourable and very important task set to the Armed Forces is to reliably defend the Motherland that has chosen the way of independent development. Military servants irreproachably perform this mission in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the Military Doctrine of our state that is purely defensive in nature, other laws and army regulations.
Valorous officers and soldiers of the beloved Motherland,
Our Armed Forces established three months after the sovereignty of Turkmenistan had been declared grew up together with the country, developed, gained strength with every passing year. The national army maintaining the peace-loving principles and military traditions of our valorous ancestors has become the army of the defensive nature.
The military reforms have been successfully implemented for twenty years since the Armed Forces were established and especially during the epoch of great reforms. Substantial efforts are taken today to enhance the defence capability and combat capacity of the Armed Forces, modernize the material and technical basis, train army specialists and improve the standards of combat and humanitarian training of military servants.
Social protection of military servants and their families is continuingly enhanced as consistent with the principle “a state for the people”. New buildings and facilities are constructed in the new historical epoch to improve the conditions of work, service and life of military servants. Putting the building complex of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defence, the Officiers’ Centre and a military school for 600 students into operation during the celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces and the Defender of the Fatherland Day is vivid evidence for it.
I believe that valorous defenders of the Motherland whose hearts are filled with the love to the Motherland and people, the pride of independent neutral Turkmenistan, the craving for military service will perform their solemn military duty in return to the concern of our independent neutral state. Let our valiant ancestors, heroes who stood up staunchly for our Motherland, set an example for you in this honourable mission!
