The closing ceremony of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan took place in the capital of the Republic of Armenia. The finale of the large-scale cultural action was a gala concert performed by Turkmen cultural and art workers to mark the 20th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan and the Year of Neutrality and Peace celebrated in Turkmenistan in 2015.

Numerous events held in the framework of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Yerevan and the towns of Vanadzor and Gyumri illustrated the intention of the friendly countries to promote the cultural and humanitarian dialogue and make it versatile and substantive.

The meetings held by the Turkmen delegation at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Shirak Province administration and the Mayor’s Office of Gyumri, providing a platform for the exchange of views on cooperation in the conservation, study and popularization of the material and spiritual heritage of the friendly peoples, were illustrative in this regard. Armenian cultural and art workers were briefed on the events which will take place in honour of the Year of Neutrality and Peace in Turkmenistan and the international science forums and festivals that scientists and cultural workers from the friendly country were invited to participate in.

The acquaintance with museum collections and restoration activities at the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Scientific Research on Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran contributed to a fruitful exchange of experiences in the preservation of spiritual heritage.

The exhibition of Turkmen decorative, applied and fine arts and printed products arranged at Hovhannes Sharambeyan Folk Art Museum in Yerevan aroused great interest.

The trips to the towns of Gyumri and Vanadzor and meetings of Turkmen cultural and art workers with their counterparts also contributed the worldwide promotion of Turkmen culture and centuries-old traditions and customs of our people. The choice of these towns was not accidental. Gyumri that appeared over 13 centuries ago is regarded as the cultural capital of the Republic of Armenia. Citizens of Gyumri proudly tell their guests that their town has been known as the homeland to poets and ashugs, crafts and arts and the capital of humour since the 19th century.

The gala concert brought together Armenian cultural and art workers, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Yerevan and citizens of the capital city at H. Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theatre.

Turkmen artists presented the Armenian audience the artistic bouquet composed of the works from the treasury of world and national classical music, folk melodies and songs, folk and modern music compositions.

The audience highly evaluated the unique techniques of Turkmen baghshis, the originality of the mini performances of Serpay folk group, the lyricism of the vocalists from Lyale ensemble, the songs based on the poems of great Magtymguly and the musical compositions from the well-known Turkmen films. The spectators warmly welcomed the brilliant performance of an Armenian song and enthusiastically applauded the performer. The enchanting sounds of the ancient Turkmen ritual dance of kushtdepdi reminded of the ancient history of the Turkmen nation...

The ceremony of awarding prizes and souvenirs to participants and winners in the contest “Turkmenistan in the eyes of children in Armenia”, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia to mark the 20th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan, took place on that day.
