President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visits military units in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Military Units 1002 and 1001 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat. There the Turkmen leader considered the construction projects of new buildings and facilities, got acquainted with the conditions of service and life of military servants and held a meeting of the State Security Council.

The Turkmen leader visited Military Unit 1002 where he got acquainted with the progress of construction of new buildings and facilities.

The high-ranking officials of military and law enforcement agencies greeted President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov there.

The Turkmen leader considered the construction projects of the building complex of this military unit and the specialized training centre. The development plan and the projects of the administrative building, conference hall, lecture rooms supplied with computers and advanced technologies, library, training centre, sports complex, dining hall and barracks were presented to the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan for consideration. Several fountains that will adorn the territory of the military unit are to be built.

Providing specific comments and recommendations on these projects, the President emphasized that the Government would show concern for the welfare of those who vigilantly stood guard over peace and cohesion in the homeland and faithfully served the people and Fatherland. Strengthening the material and technological basis of the Armed Forces, enhancing military training effectiveness, improving the conditions of service, life and recreation and ensuring social protection of military servants are the key aspects of the ongoing military reforms as consistent with the Military Doctrine, said the Turkmen leader emphasizing that the construction work must meet quality standards and construction schedule. The Turkmen leader noted that the national architectural traditions and décor elements should be reflected in the appearance of newly constructed buildings.

The Turkmen leader gave specific instructions to improve the building site in the territory of the military unit noting in this respect that every military unit in the country should serve as a model.

Then the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Military Unit 1001.

The high-ranking officials of military and law enforcement agencies and military servants greeted the Turkmen leader at the entrance to Military Unit.

Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of National Security Ya. Berdiev reported to President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Turkmen leader received the report and greeted military servants of Military Unit 1001.

The Turkmen leader visited the shooting gallery to get acquainted with equipment installed there. The President noted that military servants should be provided with opportunities to become proficient with small arms of various types. The President emphasized that military servants should raise their proficiency in all spheres of theoretical and combat training.

An exposition of military uniform, special outfit and other items manufactured by the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was arranged for the Turkmen leader in the territory of the military unit. The President provided specific recommendations on the quality and range of manufactured items.

The Turkmen leader visited the gym where young military servants and their coaches-officers greeted him. Talking to them, the President emphasized that sport and physical training should become an important aspect of life of the young generation of military servants. Noting that every member of the Armed Forces should do sport and systematically promote his bodily fitness and strength that the necessary conditions have been created for, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave specific instructions to the relevant high-ranking officials emphasizing the measures taken in this sphere should be effective and consistent. Upon concluding the meeting, the President wished young military servants the success in their service.

An exposition of specialized equipment and vehicles provided at the disposal of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to the unceasing concern of the leader of the Turkmen state was arranged in the territory of Military Unit. The President talked to specialists and officers about the key specifications and operational characteristics of these vehicles. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the Government would take further measures to replenish the fleet of military units and law enforcement agencies with advanced equipment and vehicles.

The President donated 60 Mercedes-Benz vehicles to the traffic police departments.

The Turkmen leader visited the dining hall in the territory of Military Unit 1001. Talking to the local personnel, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the food ration of military servants must be balanced and include all essential vitamins. The Turkmen leader talked to the young military servants about their service and what career they would like to choose in the future so as to make a contribution to the advancement of the country.

The Turkmen leader visited the administrative building of Military Unit 1001. The military servants greeted the President along the way. One of them asked the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan to have their photograph taken. It is symbolic that it was the place where the photograph of the father of the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov, who served in this military unit 50 years ago, and his colleagues was taken. The President had a photograph with the military servants.

The President entered the building in the territory of Military Unit 1001 where he visited the room on the first floor where his father had worked for many years.

During a conversation with the President the military servants emphasized that the life and professional activity of the Turkmen leader’s father who had faithfully served for many years in this military unit was a model for all Turkmen soldiers and commanders to follow.

The Turkmen leader visited the barracks and found them neat and tidy. The conditions of military services are improved and new uniform and outfit are provided to members of the Armed Forces due to the selfless activity of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen leader visited the personal service rooms to see the conditions of service and life of young military servants and paid particular attention to the use and storage of military uniform and outfit.

Emphasizing that the Government would show concern for the welfare of military servants, the Turkmen leader instructed the head of the relevant agencies to take necessary measures so that military servants could acquire other specialities along with the military speciality.

The President visited the Galkynys room that houses the museum of the things belonging to his father – the honoured veteran of law enforcement agencies Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov.

The exposition is composed of the documents, diplomas, manuscripts, archive photographs and other materials about Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov as a genuine patriot devoted faithfully to the military duty, a citizen who placed public interests above all the others and courageous and honest officers who enjoyed immense prestige and profound respect among his colleagues.

The military servants emphasized that Lieutenant-Colonel Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov had done much for this Motherland and people.

One of the officers informed the Turkmen leader of the intention to address a request on behalf of soldiers and commanders of Military Unit 1001 to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan to name Military Unit 1001 after an honoured veteran of law enforcement agencies Lieutenant-Colonel Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov.

Thanking the military servants for the kind words, the Turkmen leader noted that the age-old traditions of the respect for the older generation and the use of their profound life and professional experience to enhance unity and solidarity of our people and their efforts to bring the younger generation to selflessly love the Motherland were being maintained in the present historical epoch.

Then President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the State Security Council in the administrative building.

The floor was given to Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of National Security Ya. Berdiev. Reporting on the existing situation in the spheres under his supervision, Ya. Berdiev placed emphasis on the success of the ongoing military reform implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan. The main aspects of the military reforms include the strengthening of the material and technological basis of the Armed Forces, training military professionals and improvement of the conditions of service and life of members of the Armed Forces and their families.

Head of the State Border Guard Service M. Yslamov reported on the situation on the state border that had become the border of peace and brotherhood with all neighbouring countries due to the constructive foreign policy of the Turkmen state.

The floor was given to Minister of Defence B. Gundogdyev who reported on the progress of the military reforms and the progressive changes taking place in the national army in its framework to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

Prosecutor General Ya. Yazmyradov reported on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions and the work carried out by the subdivisions responsible for supporting the rule of law.

Chief of the State Drug Agency A. Garaev reported on the specific measures taken to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and prevent drug abuse.

Minister of Internal Affairs I. Mulikov reported on the work done by the Ministry in the first month of 2012 and the measures taken to maintain peace and stability in the country as a critical success factor of the implementation of the ambitious development programmes. Emphasis was placed on the measures taken by the traffic police departments to prevent traffic accidents.

Chairman of the Supreme Court A. Hallyev reported on the measures taken to improve the judicial system, including such an important aspect as professional personnel training.

Minister of Adalat M. Garryev reported on the activities aimed at modernizing the national legislation, in particular drafting new laws and legal acts in line with modern requirements that would give a powerful impetus to the ongoing reforms in the country.

Chairman of the State Customs Service A. Hojamgulyev reported on the work done by the Service that had the important mission to thoroughly inspect the goods transported across the state border of Turkmenistan.

Chairman of the State Migration Service D. Bayramov reported on the fulfilment of the Turkmen leader’s instructions and the work done this year to enhance further the international prestige of independent neutral Turkmenistan.

Commenting on the reports, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the primary tasks set to the military and law enforcement agencies had one ultimate goal – to defend and enhance the achievements of great independence – independence that valorous and courageous sons of our Fatherland had fallen on the fields of battle in the centuries-old history for.

Whatever happened the Turkmen people always remained committed to the principles of peacefulness, good neighbourliness and humanism that underlie the foreign policy strategy of independent neutral Turkmenistan that our country aims at promoting international cooperation for the common benefit in the present historical epoch, emphasized President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Turkmen leader noted that effectively implementing the status of permanent neutrality delegated by the international community Turkmenistan used its peace-building potential in practice by putting forward the constructive initiatives to address urgent problems facing all mankind. Peacefulness underlies the Military Doctrine that is purely defensive in nature, said the President noting that the Turkmen state would take further measures to enhance the fighting efficiency of the Armed Forces. It was noted that advanced military equipment and vehicles had been purchased for the national army in recent years and the professional skills of members of the Armed Forces were improved for this purpose. The concern for the welfare and the dignified conditions of service and life of military servants is regarded as the state policy priority.

The Government will continue paying close attention to these issues, emphasized President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stating that enhancement of the defence capability of the national army had been and would be a state policy priority.

Chief of the State Border Guard Service M. Yslamov presented the model of the Arkadag patrol ship – the first vessel built in Turkmenistan to the President.

After the meeting was concluded, the Turkmen leader wrote an entry to the Book of Guests of Honour.

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented the gifts to the military servants and wished them good health and every success in performing the noble and important mission to defend the Motherland.
