Inauguration of President of Turkmenistan
The ceremony of inaugurating the newly elected President of Turkmenistan took place at the Palace of Congress in the Turkmen capital on February 17. This day went down in the modern history of the Motherland as a new landmark marking the irreversibility of the ongoing democratic processes in the country that is moving forward with confidence along the path of peace, well-being and constructive endeavours and has gained outstanding achievements on this path. By the will of citizens of Turkmenistan the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was re-elected as the President of Turkmenistan. Remarkable accomplishments and victories of the new historical epoch are indissolubly associated with the activities of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov whose innovative, prudent policy has laid the foundations for the rapid progress of the Turkmen state and society and the high prestige of our Motherland in the international arena.
A festive atmosphere reigned in the Palace of Congress where the Chairperson of the Mejlis and the Vice Premieres, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats, the representatives of public organisations and the elders had gathered. Among the ceremony guests were the heads of diplomatic representations and missions accredited to our country, ambassadors of Turkmenistan to foreign countries. Among the ceremony participants were Turkmen and foreign journalists, businessmen and guests who had arrived from the regions of the country and foreign countries.
It should be noted that the inaugural ceremony was broadcast live on the national TV channels. Thus, millions of citizens in all the regions of the country and numerous TV viewers in other countries of the world witnessed this historic event.

The Chairman of the Central Commission emphasized that the presidential election had been held in our country on February 12, 2012 at the highly organisational level, in compliance with the national laws and standards of international law, in a free and democratic atmosphere. This important political campaign marked by the high civil activity of the electorate spotlighted the commitment of the Turkmen people to the principles of the unity and solidarity, true patriotism and genuine democracy.
Announcing the election results, O. Nyyazlyev reported that Gurbanguly Myalikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov had won an absolute majority of votes, 97.14 percent and had been elected as the President of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony participants greeted the newly elected leader of the Turkmen state with the storm of applause.
The newly elected President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put his left hand on the Constitution of Turkmenistan and swore an oath of allegiance to the Motherland and people.
Chairman of the Central Commission for Election and Referenda of Turkmenistan and six elders representing the regions and capital of our country appeared on the stage. In a solemn atmosphere the Chairman of the Central Commission together with the representatives of the older generation presented the certificate to the newly elected leader of the Turkmen state on behalf of the Turkmen people.
The Chairman of the Central Commission cordially congratulated the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the assumption of office and wished new accomplishments in his versatile activity.

Taking an opportunity the Turkmen leader expressed sincere gratitude to the presidential candidates. They made great effort to win this year’s election and went through with dignity all the stages of the election campaign and proved that they were worthy to lead the country. They gained valuable experience that will be of use to them in their future activities, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Today our sovereign Motherland has entered a new stage of development, said the President. Relying on the tremendous creative potential of the Turkmen people, their unity and solidarity, taking the accomplished tasks and outstanding achievements as the basis, we have set the new, higher goals to ourselves, said the Turkmen leader.
The Turkmen leader noted that in his keynote speech as a presidential candidate on January 9, 2012 he set forth the views on these important goals. This keynote speech also clearly identified the innovative development priorities applying scientific advances.
Also, these important tasks are reflected in the National Programme for improvement of the social and living conditions in villages, settlements, towns in etraps and etrap centres for the period till 2020 and the National Programme of Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030. In this context the Turkmen leader expressed belief that with the support and enthusiasm of the people, due to inspired and hard work the important tasks would be fulfilled. Achieving the high goals will enable to significantly improve the standards of living of every citizen of the country and guarantee a happy and prosperous life to the people, emphasized President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Heartily thanking the voters who have come to polling stations and cast their votes for him, the Turkmen leader said he would spare no effort to justify their trust and apply his knowledge and experience to achieve the goals.
The wisdom of our renowned ancestors is that who is moving forward he will make his way, said the Turkmen leader noting that he would like to repeat this time-tested wisdom.
“I believe in my beloved people, their wonderful constructive energy and unlimited potential, their happy and bright future,” said the Turkmen leader. “Therefore, I firmly believe that moving forward together with the beloved people, in unity, hand in hand, with confidence, we will achieve our high goals!”

Cordially congratulating the national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the election as the President of Turkmenistan and wished the best wishes to the Turkmen leader, the Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs reported that in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan the Cabinet of Ministers had resigned.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers and ordered that the cabinet ministers should continue to perform their duties until the new Cabinet of Ministers was formed.

Military servants greeted President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General of the Army Gurbnaguly Berdimuhamedov and took the sacred oath.
The President entered the Oguzkhan palace complex. A group of 24 boys and girls dressed in bright national costumes joyfully greeted the Turkmen leader there.
