President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov completes official visit to the Republic of Turkey
On the second day of the official visit to the Republic of Turkey President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Istanbul, the largest city of the country with the ancient and rich and history.
Minister of Economy of the Republic of Turkey Zafer Caglayan, the Governor of Istanbul Velayat, the Governor of Istanbul and other officials heartily greeted the President of Turkmenistan at the Ataturk International Airport decorated with the national fags of the two countries.

The decision unanimously adopted by the Academic Council of the Fatih University to confer the degree of the Honourable Doctor of the Fatih University to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was read in a solemn atmosphere. This titile was conferred to the leader of the Turkmen state for his profound contribution to maintaining peace and political stability, strengthening friendly brotherly relations between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples and his outstanding services in developing modern medicine and promoting bilateral contacts in the spheres of science, education and culture.

In this context President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said Turkish scientists actively participate in international scientific conference and other important events in Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader said our countries had accumulated the profound experience of bilateral cooperation in the science and education spheres. In the first years of independence of Turkmenistan brotherly Turkey had created conditions for effective implementation of our tremendous potential in this sphere and our countries established close collaboration in the spheres of science and education. Hundreds of Turkmen young citizens have received education and acquired professions in higher educational institutions in Turkey and effectively work in various sectors of the national economy ad in the social sphere, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Focusing on the importance of intensifying further Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in the spheres of science and education, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called upon to establish direct contacts between educational institutions of Turkmenistan and Turkey. “During the top level talks with my brother President Abdullah Gul I proposed to consider the possibilities to form the bilateral research innovation group. I believe that the Fatih University will be involved in this work and make a worthy contribution to Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in this sphere,” said the Turkmen leader.

Dwelling upon development of the fuel and energy sector of Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the abundant reserves of natural resources, particularly energy resources, the open door policy, the commitment to diversifying transit of Turkmen energy to world markets and a favourable investment climate were the groundwork for mutually advantageous cooperation with foreign entrepreneurs.
In this context the Turkmen leader provided an illustrative example of the Galkynys field in the south of the country. Experts estimate its reserves at 26.2 trillion cubic metres. The President said the Galkynys field was a part of the natural wealth of our country.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that new discoveries were to be made and in this context Turkmenistan carried out exploration work and implement investment projects pursuing specific aims. Turkmenistan increases electricity production, builds energy facilities and power transmission systems that allows exporting electricity.
The Turkmen leader dwelt upon the prospects for developing the communications sector as one of the rapidly developing and promising sector through applying scientific and technological advances. In this context the President said this sector could be developed through expanding cellular communications, providing wireless and wide-band Internet, fibre-optic communication and trunk lines. Noting that Turkmenistan sought to study and adopt best international practices in this sphere, the President of Turkmenistan invited Turkish specialists to collaborate on implementing mutually advantageous projects in the high tech sector.
The favourable geographical location of our country affords all opportunities to build new trade routes and transport corridors, said the Turkmen leader calling upon Turkish brothers to jointly use these opportunities and promote close collaboration.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that an essential factor for promoting foreign trade relations of Turkmenistan was modernization and expansion of transport network. Noting that large-scale construction of railroads and highways had been launched throughout the country under the national programmes providing for the implementation of large-scale projects, the Turkmen leader invited Turkish businessmen to collaborate on implementing these projects and apply their skills and abilities.
Defining the tourism sector as a promising area of bilateral cooperation, the Turkmen leader underlined the need to widely use Turkey’s experience in this area. In this context the President noted particularly that the implementation of the ambitious project of the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian seashore was to give a powerful impetus to promote tourism in Turkmenistan.
Ample opportunities and conditions to promote the tourism sector are provided by the unique nature of Turkmenistan and the picturesque localities and natural sites situated in the territory of our country. Numerous historical and archaeological monuments are very popular among guests of our country. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called upon Turkish partners to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in this field.

In this context the Turkmen leader provided an illustrative example of the Galkynys field in the south of the country. Experts estimate its reserves at 26.2 trillion cubic metres. The President said the Galkynys field was a part of the natural wealth of our country.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that new discoveries were to be made and in this context Turkmenistan carried out exploration work and implement investment projects pursuing specific aims. Turkmenistan increases electricity production, builds energy facilities and power transmission systems that allows exporting electricity.
The Turkmen leader dwelt upon the prospects for developing the communications sector as one of the rapidly developing and promising sector through applying scientific and technological advances. In this context the President said this sector could be developed through expanding cellular communications, providing wireless and wide-band Internet, fibre-optic communication and trunk lines. Noting that Turkmenistan sought to study and adopt best international practices in this sphere, the President of Turkmenistan invited Turkish specialists to collaborate on implementing mutually advantageous projects in the high tech sector.
The favourable geographical location of our country affords all opportunities to build new trade routes and transport corridors, said the Turkmen leader calling upon Turkish brothers to jointly use these opportunities and promote close collaboration.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that an essential factor for promoting foreign trade relations of Turkmenistan was modernization and expansion of transport network. Noting that large-scale construction of railroads and highways had been launched throughout the country under the national programmes providing for the implementation of large-scale projects, the Turkmen leader invited Turkish businessmen to collaborate on implementing these projects and apply their skills and abilities.
Defining the tourism sector as a promising area of bilateral cooperation, the Turkmen leader underlined the need to widely use Turkey’s experience in this area. In this context the President noted particularly that the implementation of the ambitious project of the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian seashore was to give a powerful impetus to promote tourism in Turkmenistan.
Ample opportunities and conditions to promote the tourism sector are provided by the unique nature of Turkmenistan and the picturesque localities and natural sites situated in the territory of our country. Numerous historical and archaeological monuments are very popular among guests of our country. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called upon Turkish partners to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in this field.
In conclusion the Turkmen leader reaffirmed that Turkmenistan stood ready for mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkish entrepreneurs and well-known companies noting that the conditions conducive to this cooperation were being created in the our country including at the legislative basis. Expressing belief that cooperation between the two brother nations would become more effective given the rapid pace of development and Turkmen-Turkish relations strengthened with every passing year, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished everyone the great success in their activity.
Wishing the fruitful work to the Turkmen-Turkish Business Forum, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Abdullah Gul bade farewell to those present.
The work of the Business Forum continued in the format of bilateral meetings between specialists of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan with Turkish businessmen.
Then President Abdullah Gul invited his counterpart President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to make a journey on a yacht along the Bosporus Strait. During the journey the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey reaffirmed that the two states sought to intensify the fruitful dialogue and make it more dynamic and concrete which reflected to the full extent the interests of the two nations.
Then the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey had dinner in the Adil Soltan Palace.
Bidding farewell, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey exchanged the wishes of peace, happiness and wellbeing to each other and the peoples of the two countries.
Then the President’s cortege headed to the International Airport in Istanbul. From Istanbul President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for Ashgabat.
In the evening the leader of the Turkmen state returned to Ashgabat. The Chairperson of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, heads of ministries and departments cordially greeted the President at the Ashgabat International Airport and congratulated him on the success of the official visit to the Republic of Turkey, the high government award of Turkey Döwlet nyşany and the degree of the Honourable Doctor of the Fatih University.
