Ethnic wedding dresses are presented at the exhibition in Ust-Kamenogorsk, the largest city in the east of Kazakhstan.

The multinational region has absorbed the culture of different peoples living here. This is evidenced by the exhibition of costumes, which unfolded on the territory of the East Kazakhstan regional architectural-ethnographic and natural-landscape museum-reserve.

Among the original wedding dresses representing a unique treasury of creativity of the peoples of Kazakhstan, Russia, Korea, Tatarstan, Ukraine and Germany, an exhibit from Turkmenistan stands out no less brightly.

In 1980, from the funds of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, a Turkmen woman's wedding dress made of homespun silk, made in 1975 by a craftswoman from the city of Ashgabat, was donated to the museum-reserve.

The girl's dress has always been decorated with a lot of jewelry. Since ancient times, they were sewn in the chest area, usually this was done not only for beauty, such an arrangement served as a talisman. When the bride walked, the dress made a characteristic ringing, this frightened off the evil spirits that always surrounded the girl, attracted by her beauty.

The exhibition has become a reflection of the material and spiritual heritage of peoples. The items on display were collected during ethnographic expeditions, purchased at republican and international fairs, and also received in different years from consulates and embassies operating in Kazakhstan.
