President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, who arrived in our country to attend the festivities on occasion of the 500-day countdown to the 2017 Asian Games.
Before the meeting held at the Ashgabat Olympic Village upon completion of the sports festival, the Turkmen leader and the OCA President visited the universal sports complex to see the progress of construction works at the sports facilities.
One of them is the 5,180-metre monorail road that runs along the vast territory of the Olympic Village connecting sports facilities. Riding the monorail train, the President of Turkmenistan and the OCA President considered the Olympic Village, its facilities and development of the territory. CEO of the Turkish Polimeks Insaat Taahhut we Sanayi Ticaret A.S. Company, the main contractor of the Ashgabat Olympic Village project Erol Tabanca accompanied the Turkmen leader and his guest during their trip around the sports complex.
It should be noted that this trip was the first one along the monorail road in the Olympic Village. From the height of the steel road there is a beautiful view on the largest sports complex that will host the 2017 Asian Games and Ashgabat with its new white-marble buildings that becomes more beautiful with every passing day. As is known, the construction of the Olympic Village is carried out in three stages. The works within the first and second stages have already been completed, and the construction of the third stage is carried out with accelerated paces.
All sports facilities in the Ashgabat Olympic Village satisfy the international standards and modern requirements set to the objects of this kind.
During the visit to the Olympic Village, the Turkmen leader familiarized the guest with the sports facilities on the territory of the complex, their purpose and functional features. Highly evaluating the works done and being done at the Olympic Village and their quality, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah emphasized the initiative approach taken by the President of Turkmenistan to address the issues on the preparations for the 2017 Asian Games and their organization.
Upon completion of the visit to the Olympic Village, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah held a bilateral meeting.
Thanking the Turkmen leader for the invitation to visit our country and take part in the festive events, the guest underlined the interest of the Olympic Council of Asia in widening traditional cooperation with Turkmenistan that significantly contributed to the international sports movement. That is vividly proved by the on-going large-scale preparatory work for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Ashgabat next year. It was noted that Turkmenistan had achieved outstanding success in the sphere of sport in recent years as a result of the state policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in this direction.
Taking the opportunity, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah congratulated the Turkmen leader on performing the Umrah to the holy places of Islam. It was emphasized that the opportunity to pray inside the holy Kaaba given to the Turkmen leader was the exclusive privilege, vividly illustrating the huge respect of the Muslim world to our country and its leader.
