President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conducted a video conference with the cabinet ministers, the heads of ministries and departments and the khyakims of Ashgabat and velayats.

The Dashoguz Velayat Khyakim informed the President of that the cotton sowing campaign in the region would start on March 28. The Lebap Vealayat Khyakim reported on the results of his trip to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on March 20-22 to take part in the festivities on occasion of Nowruz Bayramy. Vice Premier B. Commenting on the report, the Turkmen leader emphasized that these trips served not only as a symbol of good neighbourly relations between our countries, but provided an opportunity to learn more about traditions of celebrating Nowruz at the international level as well. In this regard, the Turkmen leader reminded that in accordance with the UNESCO decision Turkmenistan would host the International Day of Nowruz in 2013.

The President particularly demanded that all necessary measures be taken to improve work efficiency in the agricultural sector in strict compliance with all necessary afro-technical norms and scientifically-based recommendations to ensure raising the level of crop yield.
Commenting on the report presented by Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber B. Atdaev on the results of inspection of the projects on construction of new grain elevators in velayats, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demanded the relevant officials to eliminate the shortcomings revealed during the inspection as soon as possible.
Informing the conference participants on that the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers will take place in April with participation of velayat Khyakims, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the heads of the regions to analyze the social and economic situation in velayats and prepare the detailed reports on the results of work for the first quarter of the current year.
