The President of Turkmenistan has visited the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex, where he met with Director of the PEGASUS FARMS LTD famous French Company Herve Barjot.

One of the largest horse breeding complexes in the Central Asian region located in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains is well known not only in Turkmenistan, but in foreign countries as well. All necessary conditions for breeding the best horses in the world are created there.

Being an excellent rider, connoisseur and expert on ‘heavenly horses’, the Turkmen leader has always found time for horses and mastering horse riding in spite of his busy work schedule. Following the good tradition, the head of the Turkmen state headed to the stables to spend some time with his favorite pet - Dorhan.

Then the President of Turkmenistan headed to his office in the building of the complex, where he worked on a sequel to the book about beautiful Ahalteke horses based on the thorough study of contemporary documentary and historical materials, scientific facts and literary sources.

As is known, the President of Turkmenistan pays particular attention to the further growth of the global prestige of Ahalteke horses, the national pride and heritage of the Turkmen people. The world leading organizations breeding Ahalteke horses, well-known horse breeders, and specialists of this industry arrive in the ancient homeland of famous horses to discuss the issues of breeding Ahalteke horses, preserving the purity of their blood and promoting the glory of Ahalteke horses all around the world.

This time, the President of Turkmenistan received one of the leading horse breeders in France, Director of the PEGASUS FARMS LTD Herve Barjot, who arrived in Turkmenistan with the aim to learn more about development of the horse breeding industry in Turkmenistan and establish partnership in this area.

The Turkmen leader cordially greeted Herve Barjot, a well-known figure in the world of horse breeding industry. The Turkmen leader and his guest enjoyed a horseback riding. Herve Bajot, who comes of a family of horse breeders, expressed his emotions and shared his impressions on the Turkmen horses. Then the Turkmen leader and his guest headed to the building of the Ahalteke Horse Breeding complex, where they had a photo taken in commemoration of the meeting and unforgettable horse riding.

Then, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov demonstrated the works of art dedicated to ‘winged’ horses to the guest. Herve Bajot, in his turn, gifted an old English engraving and a book about horses, which was published in France, to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Expressing gratitude for the gift, the Turkmen leader underlined that he was always happy to communicate with true connoisseurs of horses that the Turkmen people treated with special concern.

The Turkmen leader noted that the unsurpassed in their beauty and gracefulness Ahalteke horses were the national pride of our people, an integral part of the Turkmen rich history, and underlined that, today, the Turkmen Government had paid particular attention to development of the national horse breeding.

Improvement of the selection and breeding activities and further development of the art of Turkmen horse breeding that has been formed within millennia were defined among the key priorities of the state policy in this important area. Modern hippodromes and horse breeding complexes built in recent years in all regions of the country, the national beauty contests among horses traditionally held on the eve of the Turkmen Horse Day celebrated annually on the last Sunday of April are aimed to achieve these goals. The Turkmen leader invited the guest to take part in the celebrations on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day, and the II Conference of the International Association of Ahalteke Horse Breeding. The Association unites experts and professionals in Ahalteke horse breeding from dozens countries all around the world.

Herve Bajot confirmed that France, as well as many world countries, knew and highly appreciated Ahalteke horses. The owner of a stud farm highly appreciated the scale of measures taken in Turkmenistan in order to increase the population and promote thoroughbred Ahalteke horses that regularly participated and often won main prizes of major international tournaments and competitions. Herve Bajot also noted that he was among millions of grateful readers of the Turkmen leader’s book Ahalteke Horses are Our Pride and Glory and other works by the President of Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the warm words, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gifted the new editions of his works to Herve Bajot expressing the hope that they would help the French guest to learn more about our country. During the meeting Herve Bajot briefed the Turkmen leader on the work of the PEGASUS FARMS LTD that had enjoyed an impeccable reputation in the world horse breeding industry and the sphere of services, including independent expertize and consultations at the major international equestrian competitions.

Discussing the prospects for cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest expressed their mutual interest in establishing close business contacts that would promote increasing the glory of Ahalteke horses. In this regard, the Turkmen leader noted that today, Turkmenistan had carried out the large-scale work on revival, popularization and promotion of the ancient traditions of Ahalteke horse breeding all over the world.

In his turn, Herve Bajot expressed the readiness to provide every possible assistance and support to the Turkmen colleagues. The guest noted that Turkmenistan had made itself known as a new international center for horse breeding and occupied the leading position in this area.

In conclusion of the meeting the famous group Galkynysh arranged a bright performance on the arena of the Ahalteke Horse Breeding Complex. Turkmen horsemen riding on magnificent horses demonstrated their inimitable skills.

According to the guest, the breathtaking show produced an unforgettable impression on him. The warm words of gratitude, photo in commemoration of the event and demonstration of the incomparable qualities of the winners of international beauty contests among Ahalteke horses were the logical culmination of this unforgettable spectacle.
