Within the framework of the “Concept on development in Turkmenistan in 2019-2025. digital economy” in the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, a scientific-practical conference “Methodology for the implementation of a digital system and the potential of a virtual museum” was held. It was attended by the heads of all major museums in the country, which introduced official sites.

The conference participants touched upon the issues of modern organization and management of museums through a digital system. The promising possibilities of the digital system for developing the quality of exhibitions and creating conditions for attracting the attention of visitors were also noted.

Currently, work is underway on a single electronic database of valuables stored in museums. The State Museum has a website www.museum.gov.tm and a virtual museum website www.virtualmuseum.gov.tm. Each user who has logged into the website of the virtual museum can take a virtual tour of the State Museum. The user can select a topic of interest and with one click of a button get into the museum sections: “Ancient World”, “Margush”, “Antika”, “Middle Ages”, “Carpet”, showcases and dioramas on ethnography. At present, successful work is also underway to create virtual museums in other major museums in the country.

The introduction of innovative technologies in museums will contribute to the study, protection and promotion of our cultural heritage, history, culture of the present and past of the Turkmen people. Not only our compatriots, but also foreign citizens can become users of the website.
