President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan and the 10th anniversary of the bilateral Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation.

In his congratulatory address the President of Russia underlined that within these years, Turkmenistan had achieved outstanding successes in the social and economic sphere, the authority of the country had significantly strengthened at the world arena, and the multi-aspect Russian-Turkmen relations had gained new content. “The Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation and the principles of mutual respect, strengthening the good neighbourly relations and widening cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas fixed in the document are of paramount significance for the further dynamic development. I think it is very important to enhance the joint work on implementation of the huge potential of the mutually beneficial cooperation in the trading and economic sphere, as well as the cultural and humanitarian sector, in regional and international issues, including within Turkmenistan’s presidency of the CIS”, underlined Dmitry Medvedev.
