Independent neutral Turkmenistan together with the international community celebrated widely World Health Day on April 7. This day has never been observed in the country on such a grandiose scale before. The Week of Health and Happiness held throughout Turkmenistan on the initiative of the Turkmen leader was dedicated to this date. A versatile programme of sports actions and competitions uniting thousands of people throughout the country around the idea of a healthy lifestyle was prepared to mark this significant date.

In the early morning on April 7 numerous citizens and guests of the Turkmen capital gathered together in the southern part of the city, where the Path of Health starts – the unique footpath laid at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains. The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, cabinet ministers, heads of military and law-enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic representatives and missions accredited in our country, representatives of public organizations, journalists as well as numerous guests and local youth greeted the President of Turkmenistan.

Then the Turkmen leader suggested his associates to compete in various popular sports, including volleyball, bowling and tennis.

Then the President of Turkmenistan left the stadium and drove to the race circuit. Driving into the territory of motodrome, the Turkmen leader stopped his car in the center of the racetrack. Racing drivers of the National Center for Motor Sports of Turkmenistan congratulated the Turkmen leader on the World Health Day and expressed their cordial gratitude for the great concern paid to development of the national sports, and conditions created for sportsmen. In this regard, the head of the racing group gifted a powerful racing car to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of the sportsmen.
Thanking for the gift, the Turkmen leader noted that it would be reasonable to place the car in the museum of the National Center for Motorsports of Turkmenistan.

Demonstrating the high class of driving, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov won the decisive victory.
Upon completion of the competitions, the President of Turkmenistan together with the car racing participants made a victory lap.
In the afternoon, the President of Turkmenistan visited the Winter Sports Complex, where the final of the hockey tournament for the Turkmenistan President’s Cup among youth took place.
The students of the Sport School of the State Committee for Tourism and Sports performed a bright show on the ice arena.
After the colorful show, the ice hockey teams appeared on the arena to compete for the main prize of the hockey competitions among boys - the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan.
Four teams, including Burgut team of the State Committee for Tourism and Sports of Turkmenistan, Oguz Khan representing the Turkmengaz State Concern, Shir team of the spheres of trade and textile industry and the Alp Arslan representing the transport and communications area started the competitions for the prestigious trophy. Summing up the round-robin tournament held during the week, the two top two teams - Burgut and Shir reached the final.
The final match aroused keen interest among local citizens as well as the heads of diplomatic missions, foreign businessmen and journalists.
The acute struggle took place in the first period, ten seconds before the end of first time Burgut set the score – 5-2. In the second period, Burgut scored one puck, and the third – two more pucks.
The Burgut team defeated its rivals 8-2 .
Thus, the Burgut team of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Tourism and Sports has become the first holder of the Turkmenistan President’s Cup in the history of the Turkmen hockey that is predicted to be very interesting given the popularity of this new for our country sport.
At the end of the match, the teams that won the first places lined up on the ice arena. The President of Turkmenistan was invited to the arena to present the awards to the winners. For the award winners leading to the box invites the. The Turkmen leader headed to the ice under the storm of applause.
