At the recent meeting of the Permanent Council of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) held in the city of Bursa, the Republic of Turkey, its participants, on the initiative of the Turkmen party, unanimously supported the proposal to declare 2024 “The Year of Ggreat Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World - Magtymguly Pyragy” in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of birth of Magtymguly Pyragy, and the ancient Turkmen city of Anev - the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024.

This decision, reflected in the final document of the above-mentioned meeting, was another illustration of the success of international cultural diplomacy being pursued by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, including the development of a dialogue with TURKSOY aimed at preserving, studying and popularizing in the world the richest cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples, which is an integral part of universal cultural treasures.

Thus, the progress of international level preparations for the 300th anniversary of birth of Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pyragy also shows that the creative heritage of the great Artist in Words, penetrated with high humanistic ideals, is the property of not only the Turkic-speaking peoples, but of all mankind.

And the ancient city of Anev, where a great number of evidence was found that the Turkmen people have the most ancient and rich history and culture, was rightfully chosen as the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024.
