The International Theater Festival that presented many exciting impressions and new discoveries to spectators getting acquainted them with the cultural traditions of many peoples of the world becoming the bridge of friendship, creative contacts and the festival of art closed in Ashgabat. The festival demonstrated the achievements of the theater art of our and other countries, which delegates presented the classical performances and the plays by modern authors in Ashgabat.
The programme of the three festival days included over 20 performances for children and adults, as well as numerous meetings among colleagues, professional in the theater sphere.
Ashgabat hosts various international cultural contests, scientific conferences, folk festivals greeting the world-known popular artists, young talents and gifted children from many countries within the framework of art festivals. All of them leave Turkmenistan with cordial gratitude. And this time, the festival has become a bright evidence of Turkmenistan’s openness for cooperation in many spheres, including culture bringing together the delegations from eleven countries, nine of them represented the state theaters, young spectator's theatre, puppet theaters and folk theaters, and two countries were represented by specialists on theatre arts and critique.
Among the works presented on the last day of the international festival were the works by the Turkmen State Puppet Theater – Yartygulak, famous performance based on the novel by Ch. Aytmatov “The Piebald Dog Running at the Edge of the Sea” played by G. Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth, the immortal “Othello” by Shakespeare performed by A.S. Pushkin Turkmen State Russian Drama Theater, as well as a performance played by Koni State Theater of the Turkish Republic, and unusual performance by the Indian Puppet Theater.
A video clip with the fragments of performances presented at the festival by foreign and Turkmen theaters was demonstrated during the ceremony of closing the International Festival. The artistic groups of the Turkmen capital performed a musical composition dedicated to the festival under the storm of applause of the audience.
Special diplomas and valuable presents were awarded to the festival participants during the ceremony of closing.
Within the framework of the festival, the foreign guests had an opportunity to learn more about our country, traditions, spiritual and historical heritage and the present day of our country. Today, reviving the national traditions, Turkmenistan supports and promotes developing culture and art at the governmental level. Reviving the national opera, developing the musical and drama genre, the large-scale significant changes has taken place in the Turkmen theater art as well as in the other spheres of the state and social life.
The foreign participants admired the wonderful buildings of Ashgabat theaters. The guests to our capital were unanimous that such forums, as a form of the intergovernmental cultural exchange, promoted strengthening the relations between the countries and peoples, and this meeting on the Turkmen land had once again confirmed that masters of art aspired for mutual enrichment of cultures.
