As part of the «American music abroad» program, overseas vocalists Aaron Young and Kate Bass held a press conference for journalists from the capital before the concert. However, many media representatives have already visited the rehearsals of Aaron and Kate with the State symphony orchestra and choir, as well as students of the Turkmen national conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva and practically introduced the people of Ashgabat to american singers who popularize the musical genre with their work.

During the questions and answers of the press conference participants, the characteristics of this musical genre, which synthesizes pop music, dramaturgy, choreography and opera, became clearer. Aaron and Kate have all the necessary properties for the musical and have already given a master class to the students of the conservatory.

Meanwhile, the hall of the Mukams Palace was filled with the public. The joint Turkmen-American concert was opened by an overture from the musical «Candide» performed by the State symphony orchestra conducted by Rasul Klychev. The dynamic and very emotional music reminded to the audience the musical genre which the international concert was dedicated to.

Students of the Conservatory Dovran Shammiyev and Dunyagozel Begaliyeva played the roles of a perky arab boy, known accross the world as Aladdin, and his beloved princess, accordingly.

As soon as the hall calmed down with friendly applause, "The Phantom of the Opera", another exciting perfomance, was announced by the concert hoster.

After deafening applause, the stage moves to the American colleagues. Six fragments from the musical «West Side Story» were performed, based on the modern version of Shakespeare's drama «Romeo and Juliet».

And the concert ended with a fragment from the musical «The Lion King», performed by Aaron Young, Kate Bass, Dovran Shammiyev and Dunyagozel Begaliyeva. The Turkmen-American quartet was of a huge success.

The chief conductor of the State symphony orchestra Rasul Klychev came out with the vocalists to bow to the public.

The US Embassy in Turkmenistan presented this unforgettable evening of the classics of the musical to Ashgabat listeners.
