The premiere of the play «Do not part with your loved ones» took place at the Main Academic Drama Theatre. This poetic line from a poem by Alexander Kochetkov was taken by playwright Alexander Volodin as the title of a play in which divorce proceedings are heard in court. The title of the play sounds like a counterbalance to its content.
The play by Alexander Volodin is strikingly different from ordinary plays. It is more like not a playwright, but a journalistic work, where many facts are given, but there is no single storyline and main characters. In the final, the judge addresses the audience with the words: «If 10 families have broken up, this is, in fact, a small town on earth has broken up. Save it, take care of your families».
Director Mekan Jumabayev and production designer Maksat Amangylyjov, Honoured Worker of Culture of Turkmenistan, used ... doors in the design of the set design. In this case, the door is a symbolic object: through it you can enter into a happy story that develops between a man and a woman, but you can also exit. The presence of doors in the absence of walls creates a space filled with emptiness on the stage, so it is very important to get out of the empty space, and not enter it.
Another idea of the director is interesting - the divorcing characters of the play after the trial go into extras, which are given a special place in the play. It represents life, and the theatre is a reflection of life. A good job was done by choirmaster Novruz Tajev and choreographer Nina Supanko. The extras turned out to be singing and dancing, which greatly adorned the performance.
And the last new detail in the performance - not all the participants of the performance came out to bow to the audience at once, but one at a time. At the same time, the name of each actor was mentioned.
The thematic novelty of the performance and the novelty of the stage presentation ensured success for the director and actors.
The play «Do not part with your loved ones» is the first work of director Mekan Jumabayev at the Main Academic Drama Theatre. Mekan graduated from the Moscow University of Culture and Art and the Kazakh Academy of Arts. 2 years worked in the Kazakh Musical Youth Theatre.
