From March 11 to March 18, Ashgabat will host a tour of the State Musical and Drama Theater of the Lebap velayat named after Seyitnazar Seydi. One of the oldest theaters in our country with a rich history dates back to the 40s.
The heyday of the musical and drama theater of the Lebap velayat came in 1979, when the main creative team was formed from the graduates of the Moscow State Theater Institute named after Lunacharsky (now the Russian Academy of Theater Arts - GITIS). The beginning of a rich creative activity was laid by the production of the play "Seidi".

The name of the classic of Turkmen literature, poet and warrior Seyitnazar Seydi was given to the theater in 1982. Soon, graduates of the Tashkent Theater Institute named after A. N. Ostrovsky (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan) joined the ranks of the creative team.
Over the years, the performances “Mad Money” (based on the play by Russian playwright A.N. Ostrovsky), “Do Something, Met” (based on the play by Turkish playwright Aziz Nesin), a play based on Chingiz Aitmatov’s novel “Piebald Dog, running along the edge of the sea" and many others.
Already in modern history, in 2018 at the theater festival "Silk Road - the road of cordiality" held in the white marble capital of Turkmenistan, the production of the Lebap theater "Dayakhatyn" received special attention from the jury.
For the performance, which tells about the emergence of the largest monument on the Great Silk Road - the Dayahatyn caravanserai, the ruins of which are located 170 km from the city of Turkmenabat, the theater director Perhat Khudaiberenov was awarded the Grand Prix of the festival in the best director nomination.
The historical performance "Dayakhatyn" was presented in Kazakhstan at the first international theater festival "Abish Alemi" ("The Universe of Abish"). Also, the performance of the Lebap Theater was seen by the audience of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Work in the theater does not stop for a single day, the repertoire includes about 100 performances of various genres. As part of the tour on the stage of the National Music and Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli, the Lebap Theater team will present to the public a performance dedicated to Ashgabat, as well as a humorous concert.
