The Small Hall of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M. Kuliyeva hosted a concert of guitar music in the framework of the festival of young guitarists named after Islam Babayev, dedicated to the memory of the musician.
Among the performers were pupils of the capital’s children’s music schools No 3, 4 and 5, the Special Music Boarding School of the TNC, students of the Turkmen State Special Music School named after D.Ovezov, students of the Turkmen National Conservatory and amateur guitarists.
Having tuned up their instruments, the guitarists delighted the guests of the concert with a rich music program.
The repertoire of young talents included works by famous Turkmen composers Nury Halmammedov, Chary Nurymov, as well as national music «Çoh derde goýan ýarym», «Maşak ýar». The compositions «Meleguş», «Türkmen sährasy», «Akja kepderi» arranged for performance on the six-string guitar sounded brightly and dynamically.
The guests who arrived from Mary velayat were the real discovery of the music program. The brothers Toily and Mekan Dortgulyev attend the Mollanepes Children’s School of Arts in Mary. They were accompanied by their older brother, also a guitarist.
-In Mary we take part in all kinds of concerts and we performed in the Turkmen National Conservatory for the first time. This is a great honor for us- Toili Dortgulyev shares his impressions. -We have a whole generation of self-taught guitarists in our family. So I am very glad that I have the opportunity to study at the state music school, to learn from professional teachers. I am graduating from school this year and planning to come to Ashgabat to enroll in a music college.
An amateur guitarist Rustam Ataev stated himself no less vividly. The young man learns the technique of playing a musical instrument at the lessons of Murad Kurbanov, an experienced teacher, who has raised more than one generation of guitarists.
Students of Leyla Nasyrova, the teacher of the 3rd Music School in Ashgabat showed their talents. Sonia Nasyrova, Milana Kaletinskaya and Merjen Meredova performed a whole kaleidoscope of various melodies of foreign composers. Arslan Garlyev performed a musical composition «Bahar heňi» by Islam Babayev, the promoter of guitar music in Turkmenistan.
Islam Babayev was born on May 6, 1949. In the 1970s, an outstanding musician helped to open the first classic guitar class in Turkmenistan. Nowadays there are many talented guitarists in our country, and thanks to the annual festival of guitar music their rows are replenished with new names.
