Foreign cinematographers shoot documentary films about Turkmen horses

It has been written and said so much about the history of Ahalteke horses, their beauty and outstanding qualities, that it seems that there is nothing to add. The authors of numerous publications, scientific papers, literary and musical works, and works of fine art have expressed their everlasting admiration about this wonderful creature. Cinematographers have devoted a lot of documentaries and feature films to the outstanding representatives of this legendary breed, and various schools of horse breeding and training horses, the relationship between a man and horse.

But in modern time that has come to the ancient Turkmen land – the homeland of Ahalteke horses, the unfading interest in ‘heavenly’ horses has come up with a bang. This is a direct result of the large-scale activity on revival of the national horse breeding traditions, development of equestrian sport, selection and breeding work on preserving and improving the natural characteristics of Ahalteke horses and their gene pool held in the country on the initiative and under the personal patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In the context of this work that includes various areas, the significant events were creation of the International Association of Ahalteke Horses under the chairmanship of the President of Turkmenistan, opening new equestrian complexes in all regions of the country, and establishment of the beauty contest among Ahalteke horses at the international level.

Today Turkmenistan has once again gathered together experts and admirers of Ahalteke horses, scientists, horse breeders, jockeys, who will take part in the traditional celebrations on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day. Among numerous foreign guests, there are cinematographers, whose visit to country is directly related to the unique heritage and the present day of the Turkmen horse breeding.

Thus, the Amazing Pictures American Company will create a documentary dedicated to legendary Ahalteke horses, the history of the world-known horse breed and its present day.

Within the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan the members of the creative team of the project will collect materials for the new film and take part in the II International Conference of the International Associations of Ahalteke Horse Breeding, IV International Conference “Turkmen Horses and the Art of World Horse Breeding” as well as the large-scale festivities, which will be held in the Turkmen capital and at the velayat equestrian complexes to mark the Turkmen Horse day.

The Peignoir Prod French Film Studio specialized in shooting documentaries and news programs dedicated to horses sent its delegation to Turkmenistan. Peignoir Prod successfully cooperates with the leading TV channels in France, including Equidia that requests the studio to make key films and programmes, which are broadcast all over the world. Equidia is a specialized channel well-known in the ‘horse’ world that has a broad audience not only in Europe but also in other parts of the world. The channel broadcasts horse racing and equestrian contests, documentaries and feature films about horses, the programmes dedicated to famous horses, jockeys and trainers, horse traditions of different peoples, etc. In 2012 the Equidia channel plans to create a series of documentaries entitled "Extraordinary stables of the world", which issues will acquaint the audience with the best equestrian centers of the world.

A special place in this project is given to Turkmenistan, where the art of horse breeding has unique ancient traditions that have had an influence on the world horse breeding, the traditions that have received a worthy continuation and thorough basis for further development today.

The foreign guests will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the complex work on increasing the number of our pedigree horses, and will enjoy the outstanding performances that will take place in the country these days. Among them are horse marathon, the show jumping at the International Equestrian Complex, the final round of the Horse of the Year contest, as well as many other creative events dedicated to ‘heavenly’ horses and other cultural actions on occasion of the Turkmen Horse Day.

Everything they have seen and heard during the festivities will lay a foundation of documentary films created by foreign cinematographers, which will allow the viewers from many countries of the world to learn more about the amazing world under the name of Ahalteke horse, to see the magnificent equestrian complexes in our country, the elite representatives of the breed, the exciting equestrian events, spectacular techniques of trick riding, as well as how Turkmen horse breeders prepare horses for competitions and treat them.

New films by American and French cinematographers, who have depicted the brightest moments of the festive celebrations dedicated to Ahalteke horses, the horse racing and everyday life of Turkmen horse breeders will familiarize the foreign audience with the national traditions of breeding and training horses, the experience of Turkmen breeders and jockeys, the best riders, etc.
