President of Turkmenistan receives Deputy Minister of Economics and Technology of the Federative Republic of Germany

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Minister of Economics and Technology of the Federative Republic of Germany Dr. Karl-Ernst Brauner, who arrived in the Turkmen capital leading a representative delegation of Germany to take part in the meeting of the Turkmen-German working group on the trading and economic cooperation.

Expressing deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting and a cordial welcome on the Turkmen land, the guest underlined that he was very happy to visit Turkmenistan again and appreciate the unprecedented in their significance and scales changes pursued by the Turkmen leader with the aim to promote the steady growth of the authority of the Turkmen state at the international arena.

Welcoming the guest, the President of Turkmenistan underlined the particular importance Turkmenistan had paid to developing the Turkmen-German cooperation built on the long-term, mutually beneficial and equal basis.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged their views on the status and prospects for enhancing the intergovernmental relations rapidly developing in a number of key aspects within the last years. The trading and economic, fuel and energy sectors, electric power engineering and industry, construction, healthcare, education, sport and tourism were defined among the priority spheres for prospective cooperation given the mutual interests and common tasks of the state development.

Underlining the paramount importance paid to the work of the joint Turkmen-German Working Group that defines the ways and mechanisms for implementing bilateral agreements, the Turkmen leader and his guest expressed their opinion that the mutual support to and aim at intensification of fruitful cooperation was the best method to withstand the world financial and economic crisis.

Speaking about the increasing interest of the business circles of the Federative Republic of Germany in developing close cooperation with Turkmen partners, the Deputy Minister of Economics and Technology of the Federative Republic of Germany noted that the favourable conditions, including, first of all, the optimal investment climate and the open door policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan that had attracted a great number of potential foreign partners, had been created in Turkmenistan.

Particular attention was paid to the projects related to reconstruction of the sea port in Turkmenbashi, the international airport in the Turkmen capital, as well as the projects on cooperation in the traditional sphere of the long-term cooperation – healthcare.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Reiner Morel attended the meeting.
