In accordance with the events on the occasion of the solemn celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great philosopher and classical poet of the East Magtymguly Pyragy, scientists of the Institute of Language named after Magtymguly, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan are working to identify new printed and handwritten sources related to life and works of the poet, as well as with the history, literature and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
A lot of interesting material was brought by scientists from scientific and creative business trips to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. No less fruitful was the trip to Hungary in order to search for new historical information about the life and work of Magtymguly Pyragy, the scientific secretary of the Institute K. Janbekov and the senior researcher of the department of handwritten sources of Turkmen history N. Gylychdurdyyev. For almost the whole of August, they worked at the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, where they received all kinds of assistance from the Hungarian side.
Hungarian specialists reported that this library contains more than ten thousand Arabic, Persian and ancient Turkic manuscripts and created an opportunity to study the catalogs of these manuscripts. The collection of the heritage of the Hungarian linguist-Turkologist, ethnographer and traveler Arminy Vamberi, who visited the Turkmen lands, which is kept in the library funds, was of particular interest to Turkmen scientists. In the process of work, it turned out that Vamberi received one of the manuscripts directly from the Turkmen. According to available data, it begins with three poems related to the pen of Magtymguly Pyragy, and contains poems by such Turkmen classical poets as Nurmuhammet Andalyp, Meshrep, Misgin. Specialists of the Institute of Language named after Magtymguly, Literature and National Manuscripts also carefully examined the manuscript containing Magtymguly Pyragy's poems and received its high-quality colour electronic copy.
While working in the manuscript fund of the Library and the Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Turkmen scientists discovered two manuscripts previously unknown to the scientific community related to the heritage of Magtymguly. In addition to copies of these important scientific findings, electronic copies of a total of 70 manuscripts related to the literature, history and culture of the Turkmen people were brought to Turkmenistan. Of these, 39 are in Turkmen, 22 are in Persian and 7 are in Arabic. These new historical sources will be of great help to scientists in an in-depth study of the creative heritage of Magtymguly and other Turkmen historical figures.
The scientific and creative trip of scientists from the Institute of Language named after Magtymguly, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan to Budapest became a clear evidence of the successful development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, which, among other topical areas of interaction, was discussed on the same days during the negotiations of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during a working visit to Budapest.
Remind also that the Hungarian side was invited to take part in the events on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy during the June meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Ashgabat.
