Tours of the Maly Theater of Russia are expected in Ashgabat

The creative team of the State Academic Maly Theater of Russia will visit the capital of Turkmenistan as part of the "Big Tour" project.

The famous Russian theater will present to the public two performances: "Marriage" and "The Cherry Orchard".

The play "Marriage" based on the play of the same name by Nikolai Gogol has occupied an important place in the repertoire of the Maly Theater for more than a hundred years. The classic plot about a choosy bride, hapless grooms and an agile matchmaker raises the themes of family values and marriage ties in a comedic form.

The director of the production is Yuri Solomin, People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of the State Prizes of Russia.

The play "The Cherry Orchard" directed by Igor Ilyinsky, People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of the Lenin and State Prizes of the USSR, was the first production in the history of the Maly Theater based on the Anton Chekhov’s play of the same name.

In the center of the plot is the noble family of Ranevsky and Gayev, which resists change. A generation of old Russian nobles, sentimental and impractical, is leaving. They must give way to the business pressure of Lopakhin.

"The Cherry Orchard" is a story that reflects the complex feelings and emotions associated with the destruction of the usual way of life. The performance allows one to think about the significance of the past, but also about the need to accept a new reality.

Organized by Rosconcert in accordance with the All-Russian tour and concert plan of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, "Big Tours" will also be held in Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and Belarus.
