In accordance with the plan of events to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the great philosopher and classical poet of the East Magtymguly Pyragy, the film group of the «Turkmenfilm» Association named after Oguz han is sent on a creative trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran to film a documentary film related to the creative heritage and manuscripts of Magtymguly.
The creative team will be headed by the deputy head of Turkmenfilm for film production, Isgendermuhammet Annamuhammedov, a young director known for such works as the chronicle-documentary film «Arkaňda Arkadag, alnyňda Serdar» the short feature film «Ýaşlar» and the feature-journalistic film «Dutaryň owazy».
From 17th to 24th of September, Turkmen filmmakers will film in places associated with the name and work of the poet-humanist and patriot Magtymguly Pyragy, communicate with representatives of the Turkmen diaspora of Iran, with scientists, curators of book and manuscript collections, experts and connoisseurs of his poetry.
As is known, in the village of Aktokay in the northern Iranian province of Golestan is the resting place of the great Turkmen classics Magtymguly Pyragy and his father Dovletmammet Azady. Every year, a delegation of creative intelligence, scientists, university teachers, representatives of public organizations and the media of Turkmenistan makes a pilgrimage to the tombs of Turkmen poets in Iran.
In honour of the birthday of Magtymguly Pyragy, cultural and educational events are organized in the province, in which officials, parliamentarians of Iran, representatives of the scientific and literary circles of the country, and the local population participate. Here Magtymguly’s poems are recited, a theatrical performance about his life and work is presented, and performances by artists and thematic exhibitions are organized. These events contribute to the popularization of Magtymguly’s creative heritage, the preservation of their native language and cultural traditions by ethnic Turkmens around the world. And, of course, the memory of the great son of the Turkmen people lives and is passed on from generation to generation among the Iranian Turkmens.
In May 2021, a new monument to the poet and sage Magtymguly, erected with the financial support of the city municipality, was unveiled on the square at the entrance to the city of Gombede-Kovus in the Golestan province. A scientific conference was also held here, the theme of which was the creative heritage of Magtymguly, a collection of his poems was published, the translation of which into Persian was carried out by a group of six writers from the Golestan province.
