The Film Festival "Arkadagyñ säheri" with the participation of Central Asian countries is scheduled to be held in the city of Arkadag on October 14-15. Preparations for this event were discussed at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on Saturday. The main goal of the film festival is to identify young talents, develop Turkmen cinema art, patriotic education of young people, as well as to familiarize the world community with the possibilities of the digital system and equipment with advanced technologies of the city of Arkadag, expand fruitful cooperation with foreign partners.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed at the government meeting, the upcoming film festival in the city of Arkadag will serve to further strengthen the traditionally friendly, fraternal relations between the countries and peoples of Central Asia, will contribute to the enrichment of cultural and humanitarian ties, which are an integral and important component of regional cooperation.
Preparations for the "Arkadagyñ säheri" Film Festival are coordinated by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography. According to preliminary information, two short feature films from each Central Asian country, preferably created by young cinematographers, will take part in the competition program of the film festival. Well-known representatives of cinema art from other countries are also invited to the film festival as members of the jury and as guests of honor. Screenings of the films presented at the film festival will be held in cinemas in Arkadag and Ashgabat.
An interesting cultural program and excursions to the "smart" city of Arkadag are being prepared for the participants and guests of the film festival. Master classes for students of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture are also planned to be held within the framework of the film festival. The first applications for participation in the upcoming film festival have already started to arrive from cinematographers of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
