The delegation of Turkmenistan, consisting of filmmakers, artists and television journalists, will take part in the third film festival of the Turkic world «Gorkut Ata», which will be held on the 8th to 11th October in Baku.

The purpose of the festival is to strengthen unity and cultural cooperation between the Turkic peoples, create a common audiovisual space and promote the integration of the Turkic peoples into it.

Held since 2021, the festival was first held in Istanbul, Turkey, and last year in the city of Bursa.

In the feature film category of the competition program of the current festival, the feature film «Gyzyl Alma» directed by the Hekim Alovov director of the «Turkmenfilm» Association named after Oguzhan will be presented. The out-of-competition film panorama includes the work of film director Sahysalyh Bayramov «Daragt», which participated in the competition program of the XV Tashkent International Film Festival «Pearl of the Silk Road» that recently ended.

Its author was among the laureates of the film festival and was awarded a special prize - a statuette and a monetary reward.

In Tashkent, Sahysalyh Bayramov was a member of the jury of a film festival for feature films.

The Turkmen director will also have to evaluate his films at the film festival of the Turkic world «Gorkut Ata» in Azerbaijan.

Another representative of Turkmenistan has been invited to join the jury of the film festival in the «Documentary Film» category.

The documentary competition will feature the film «Children of the Sun and Water», directed by Palvan Geldiyev and based on the script by Bekdurdy Amansaryyev.

Turkmen animated films – a cartoon directed by Rovshen Velmiyev – will also be presented in non-competition screenings within the framework of the film festival.

Television journalists from the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography will introduce Turkmen viewers to the most interesting events of the cinema festival in Azerbaijan.

It is expected that more than 100 foreign guests will take part in the III Film Festival of the Turkic World «Gorkut Ata», among whom will be filmmakers of the Turkic peoples.

The screening of about 40 feature, documentary and animated films presented at the festival will take place at the «Nizami» Cinema Centre.
