On October 11, the closing ceremony of the III Korkut Ata Film Festival of the Turkic World was held in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic World-2023. The event was attended by officials, foreign guests and famous artists of the Turkic world.

Turkmenistan was represented at the film forum by a large delegation of cinematographers and artists.

The "Gyzyl alma" art film by Hekim Alovov, director of the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association, was announced in the feature film nomination of the competition program.

Also, the non-competitive program of feature films included the work "Daragt" directed by Sakhysalykh Bayramov. The non-competitive animated film program included a cartoon directed by Rovshen Velmiev. The documentary film competition featured the film "Children of the Sun and Water" by Bekdurdy Amansaryev, camerawork by Palvan Geldiyev.

Akhmet Amandurdyev, performer of the main role in the film "Gyzyl alma", received an award in the nomination "Best Actor".

People's Artist of Turkmenistan Chariyar Seitliev was awarded the honorary award of the festival for his contribution to the cinematography of the Turkic world.

In a solemn ceremony, the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli presented a statuette "Crane" to the representative of the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association Sakhysalykh Bayramov, symbolizing the transfer of the Korkut Ata festival relay to the Turkmen city of Anau.

The ancient Turkmen city of Anau was elected the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024 following the results of the 39th meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the TURKSOY member states, held in Bursa, Turkey. The participants of the meeting, on the proposal of the Turkmen side, unanimously supported the proposal to declare 2024 "The Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Pyragy" in honor of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy.

Currently, Turkmen cinematographers are preparing a series of films about the classic of Turkmen literature.
