Within the framework of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan held in Turkmenistan, the capital’s Museum of Fine Arts hosted a round table on the topic "Preservation, revival and development of folk arts and crafts".
The cultural dialogue was attended by members of the delegation of masters and folk craftsmen of the Republic of Tatarstan, representatives of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan, art historians and honored artists.
Before the meeting, the guests got acquainted with the traditional crafts of the Turkmen people. A small exposition presented at the Museum site included various types of national arts and crafts: jewelry, ceramics, carpet weaving and embroidery.
Having studied with interest the works of Turkmen jewelers, carpet weavers and folk craftsmen, the masters of the Republic of Tatarstan presented to their Turkmen colleagues their products created according to the canons of the richest folk heritage of Tatar culture. Paying attention to some points of similarity in traditional costumes and hand embroidery, the guests noted that two friendly peoples – Turkmens and Tatars – are intertwined by patterns of delicate silk threads.
Not only state, but also author's workshops of folk crafts are actively developing in the Republic of Tatarstan. There are many enterprises producing exclusive products. Government of the Republic of Tatarstan provides grants to support small and medium-sized businesses in the field of folk arts and crafts.
On the basis of the Kazan Technical School of National Art Trades and the Kazan State Institute of Culture, young people learn the basics of crafts, discover different types of applied creativity, new techniques for making various products.
Having exchanged views on personnel training, the study and popularization of the traditions of folk crafts and handicrafts, the representatives of the two countries came to the conclusion that modern forms of existence and the use of IT technologies in production are necessary for the promotion of traditional folk crafts.
At the end of the meeting, the guests expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Turkmenistan and expressed gratitude to the Government of our country for supporting and preserving folk traditions and crafts.
