From the 31st of October to 4th of November, Azerbaijan hosts the I International TURKSOY Theatre Festival.
Performances by creative groups from TURKSOY member countries - Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Turkmenistan - will be shown in the cities of Shusha and Baku.
Our country will be represented at the international creative platform by the National Music and Drama Theatre named after Magtymguly with the play «Söýgi hem hasrat».
The dramatic production is based on the ancient legend of the pure love of Leyli and Mejnun. The performance will be shown on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theatre in Baku on the 4th of November at 15:00.
Also, as part of the theater festival, the 9th meeting of the Council of Heads of State Theatres of the TURKSOY member countries will be held in the city of Shusha. During the meeting, it is planned to discuss the development of theatrical art of the Turkic peoples and plans for further cooperation.
The opening of the I International Theatre Festival TURKSOY is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the announcement of the city of Shusha as the «Cultural Capital of the Turkic World» in 2023, the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani professional national theater and the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY (International Organization of Turkic Culture).
