Around 800 participants from 93 countries, including Turkmenistan, have gathered in the Italian city of Montesilvano for the World Chess Championship for boys and girls under the age of 14, 16, and 18.
As reported by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, the championship will consist of 11 rounds with classical time control, which means one and a half hours for the entire game with an additional 30 seconds added after each move.
Turkmenistan will be represented at this championship by: U18 - Amanmukhammet Khommadov, the Asian champion among schoolchildren under 17, and Lala Shokhradova, the national champion among women; U16 - Sanjar Gaibullaev and Leila Shokhradova, the bronze medalist of the World Rapid Championship; U14 - Gurbanmyrat Rustemov and Myakhri Agamyradova, a medalist of the Asian Championship among schoolchildren.
This tournament is one of the most important starting points for young chess players from all over the world, as the winners will be awarded the titles of International Master or FIDE Master.
The World Youth Chess Championship will end on November 25.
