Concert of guitar music

Concert of guitarists organized with assistance of the social organization of Turkmenistan – Society of Guitarists in the conference hall of the State Children’s Library named after Bazar Amanov was held in Ashgabat. It was devoted to the upcoming Victory Day. Chamber concert included nearly twenty productions set for guitar performed on acoustic and electro-instruments solo and in duet with venerable and quite young musicians. The youngest of them Bayli Chokanov is ten years old and the eldest Valentine Kurbanov is about 60 years old. The representatives of creative intelligentsia, non-government organizations, mass media, student youth as well as numerous admirers of music have gathered in the hall to enjoy the guitar music.

The guests heeded with particular interest the masterly performance of Yusuf Ismailov, Aziz Annamuradov, keyboard player Kakajan Hudaynazarov, who presented in unusual guitar sounding the productions of Turkmen composers N. Halmamedov, I. Babayev, melodies “Nar agajy”, “Kechpelek” and others.

Concert participants also performed for audience the classical productions of Johann Sebastian Bach, P. Rotz, I. Kramskoy as well as productions of “The Beatles”, “Gipsy Kings”, and Elvis Presley in edited version for guitar. During this event, it was sounded several author’s poetic dedications to guitar as well as performed songs of war years. To the delight of the Ashgabat music lovers, the concert was completed by performance of the prize-winner of the Youth Organization named after Magtymguly, participant of many creative contests and festivals, international ethnomusical projects Michael Chariyev. Together with his pupil, he masterly performed several well-known productions, including “Sun dance of the Mediterranean” by Al Di Meola and fantasy about music by I. Haydarov. Among performers it is worth mentioning about young guitarists Tahir Muhamedov, Tigran Shahuntz, who play professionally and feel confidence on the stage.

It is not first similar event organized by the Society of Guitarists on the occasion of significant and festive dates in the life of Turkmen state. Its members – professionals and devotees for whom a guitar is not so much an instrument as a real vital philosophy often go on tour and take part in charity concerts.
