The exposition of the exhibits of the Main National Museum of Turkmenistan, and the festival of Turkmen films took place in the Odeon Theater in Vienna within the framework of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Austria.
The old national dresses, household articles, souvenirs and wonderful samples of the carpet-weaving art, as well as other articles of the decorative and applied arts were showcased during the exhibition. Original jewelry, unsurpassed in their beauty and elegance women’s adornments incrusted with cornelian and calaite made by skillful Turkmen masters occupied the special section of the exposition. The modern accessories of the national women’s costumes and various carpet articles were presented there.
The classical Turkmen cinematography was represented by a black-and-white film “Competition” (“Shukur bahshi”) shot in 1964 based on the “Shukur bahshi” novel by N. Saryhanov. A documentary “A Turkmen carpet” shot by Honoured Art Worker of Turkmenistan, stage director Shihmurad Annamuradov was demonstrated within the framework of the film festival.
Within the framework of the rich cultural programme prepared for the workers of culture and art of Turkmenistan, the members of the artistic delegation of our country visited the Schönbrunn Palace and Vienna opera.
