The creative work of Azadi – an integral part of the national and the world spiritual culture

The International scientific conference entitled “Dovletmammet Azadi and the life of the Turkmens in the XVIII century» closed in Ashgabat. Scientists from 32 countries of the world as well as their colleagues from Turkmenistan, whose scientific research works are related to the literary heritage of Azadi and the history of Turkmenistan in the XVIII century, took part in the representative forum organized and held on the initiative and under the patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The discussions about the life and creative work of the prominent Turkmen poet and philosopher, about his epoch, his famous contemporaries and renowned son - classic of the Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi were held within five scientific sections: “Study of Azadi’s literary heritage at present”, “Dovletmammet Azadi and his epoch”, “Azadi’s works and the issues of literary language”, “Vagy-Azat” by Azadi in the system of human values”, “Dovletmammet Azadi and the literature of the East”.

Over a hundred of interesting scientific reports on Sufi motifs in the creative works by Azadi and their relations with the world-view of Yunus Emre and Djelaleddin Rumi, on the significance of the literary heritage of Azadi for understanding the various levels of creative work of classics of the literature and poetry of the East, including Omar Khayyam, Saadi, Hafiz, Nesimi, Djami, Navoi, Fuzuli were presented and discussed during the conference. A number of reports were dedicated to the philological aspects of Azadi’s poetry, analysis of his famous poems and treatises, their influence on the creativity of his great son and other classics of the Turkmen literature of the XVIII-XIX centuries.

It was underlined during the solemn ceremony of closing the international forum that the meeting in Ashgabat significantly widened the knowledge about Azadi and his epoch as well as became another important step in developing humanitarian sciences of Turkmenistan and enhancing the international and cultural relations. The conference participants put forward a number of initiatives on exchanging experience, and called for the necessity to continue the close and efficient cooperation.
