Teachers of the University of Engineering and Technology Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan took part in the Summit Asian universities Times Higher Education (THE), held in Kuala Lumpur with the support of the Malaysian Sunway University from April 29 to May 2.
A large-scale forum brought together hundreds of participants from all over the world Asian continent - finalists of the sixth THE Awards Asia 2024 from 17 countries, including Turkmenistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Turkey, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Cambodia and others.
During the first day of the summit, universities were announced - winners of the prestigious award, and their ceremony took place awards.
Please note that the University of Engineering and Technology Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan took a worthy position among candidates for the prize and one of the first universities in Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries were shortlisted for THE Awards Asia 2024, published in January on the website of the British organization THE. In this list contains 80 universities (8 in each of 10 nominations). We emphasize that this year to receive the award more than 600 universities from 22 countries applied.

THE Awards Asia, launched in 2019 and widely known as the "Oscars of Higher Education" celebrates outstanding work of universities in various fields, including academic science, leadership, management, professional services, and stimulates universities' pursuit of excellence and development.
On the sidelines of the Asian Universities Summit THE Turkmen teachers took an active part in the presentations, model sessions, round tables, discussions on topics such as “Trends and driving forces of transnational education in Asia", "Employment for a sustainable future", "The Changing Face of Skills in the Digital Age" “Innovative approaches to curriculum development and development of abilities."
On the final day of the summit, speeches took place participants, joint discussions, exhibitions on the topics “Importance academic freedom", "Expansion of higher education, opportunities and self-reliance for refugees”, “Balance between control and autonomy”, “Thoughts of students” and others.
During a working visit to Malaysia, university teachers named after Oguz Khan visited Tenaga National University (UNITEN). During the meeting, prospects and plans were discussed cooperation between two universities, conducting scientific research activities. Turkmen teachers invited Malaysian colleagues to participate in the conference “The main directions of the green economy: eco-, nano-, bio-, information technologies", which will be held in Ashgabat on hybrid format on June 8.
A special event was also organized for the summit participant’s trip and study tour to the Malaysian University Sunway. Let us add that the organizers of the summit and representatives of other Asian universities have expressed great interest in close collaboration with the University of Engineering and Technology Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan.
