Innovative technologies for an energy institute

Working meetings are held on a regular basis between scientists of the Research and Production Center "Renewable Energy Sources," lecturers of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, and engineers of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan with experts from the joint adaptation project "Sustainable Cities" of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Program. This time, the topic of scientific exchange was the discussion of the possibility of using renewable energy elements and innovative technologies integrated into the architecture of campus buildings on the university's new buildings under construction.

Atamukhamet Saryev, energy efficiency specialist of the "Sustainable Cities" project, explains: "Meeting participants visited construction sites and familiarized themselves with the progress of implementing innovative technologies. During these tours, they assessed the technical characteristics of the 'smart home' power supply system and the energy efficiency of buildings and structures under construction. Discussions then moved from the construction site to the production base of the RPC 'Renewable Energy Sources' at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan."

Project representatives also discussed with SEIT scientists the results of jointly implemented activities and the next steps of cooperation, which currently focuses on the preparation of technical project documents for a solar power plant in a pilot hotel in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Since 2014, the energy institute has been training specialists in "alternative and renewable energy sources." With the opening of the Energy Saving Technologies" Department, which has already employed recent graduates, and the start of the RPC's activities within the institute, the technological capabilities and scientific potential of the institute are increasing. All this enhances the institute's prestige, making it a more modern scientific and educational center attractive to young Turkmen citizens, who will acquire professions and independent research skills needed for the country.
