Students from Turkmen universities study in the USA in within the SUSI program

Four students from two universities of Turkmenistan became participants academic program "Studies of US Institutions" (SUSI).

Based on the results of the selection of candidates, the right to participate in the program received two students of Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan – Gurbangul Sapargeldieva (Faculty of Biotechnology and Ecology) and Chynar Garlyev (faculty of cyberphysical systems), as well as two students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turkmenistan - Yupar Egirjaeva (faculty of international economic relations) and Akgozel Rasulova (faculty international relations).

Five-week intensive academic program for student leaders is held on the basis of American universities from 21 June to July 26. This initiative aims to improve understanding of US culture, history and society, and promote the development of leadership and diplomatic qualities, respect for cultural diversity.

The curriculum includes interactive classes, discussions, lectures, seminars, workshops, orientation travel to regions of the United States and visits to various sites.

The program focuses on three main themes. History and the future of work in a changing world is a topic that explores historical context of labor movements in the United States, influence technological innovations on the labor market and impact globalization on local and global economies. For improvement understanding the topic, students visited US educational institutions and met with local entrepreneurs.

Second thematic area – Curriculum and development training. As part of it, participants developed development skills educational programs and preparation of training sessions, adapted to the changing nature of work in universities countries of the world. They learned best practices for developing training and pedagogical programs under the guidance of FIUTS experts (Foundation for International Understanding through Students) and other invited speakers.

The third topic - Leadership identity and development included activities and tasks that develop leadership skills.

Particular attention was paid to cultural diversity and differences. At the joint meeting, participants shared impressions and exchanged views on the experience gained and knowledge, interaction with students from different countries on throughout the entire program.

During the training period, participants mastered and acquired skills application of techniques for facilitating work groups and teams, met their American peers on campuses colleges and jointly took part in various events. The emphasis was placed on intercultural communication, thanks to which between students – young leaders from the United States and around the world have formed strong friendly connections.

Our students' participation in the SUSI program highlights commitment of Turkmen universities to the development of global leadership and intercultural understanding in youth environment.
