A meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government in Ashgabat
A meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government in Ashgabat has taken place in Ashgabat on May 30. As is known, Turkmenistan hosts this high level forum as a country that has chaired the CIS in 2012.
The government delegations of the CIS member states arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the meeting. On the occasion of the event the national flags of the CIS member states and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States were hoisted at the International airport in Ashgabat, where the planes with high ranking officials landed one after another. The high ranking guests headed from the airport to the Oguzkent Hotel that hosted the Ashgabat forum.
Before the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev, and held a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of several delegations of the CIS member states.
On May 30, the President of Turkmenistan has met with the heads of the delegations taking part in the meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government and has held talks with Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit.
During the meeting the Council members will discuss the urgent issues of developing the constructive partnership within the CIS given the modern trends and prospects. In this regard, the parties with consider a solid package of documents on various aspects of cooperation of the CIS member states. In particular, the heads of government will discuss a block of issues regarding the further enhancing and widening cooperation in the economic and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention will be paid to the strategy of the development of physical culture, sports and tourism of the Commonwealth.
Building cooperation with the CIS member states on the constructive, mutually beneficial basis, Turkmenistan takes an active part in the events within the framework of the Commonwealth. Along with it, our country has hosted many important meetings and forums of the Commonwealth of Independent States within the last time.
This year, within the framework of the presidency of Turkmenistan in the CIS in 2012, a number of events of various levels stipulated by the Concept are to be held in the country with the aim to promote intensification of the traditional cooperation in its priority vectors. Thus, this November Ashgabat will host a meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.
