The next issue of the quarterly popular science magazine "Miras", published by the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan was released out of print.

The current year, which bears the motto «The Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi» and is marked with a number of historical events, enables us to take a new look at the historical heritage of our glorious ancestors and great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi. Uniqueness and diversity of cultural and spiritual legacy serve as basic values that unite peoples and nations.

First pages of the edition comprise congratulatory messages of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of World Health Day, 79th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, national holiday of Turkmen racer, Constitution and National Day of Turkmenistan, holiday of Turkmen carpet, Day of Science, Day of workers of culture and art as well as poetry of Magtymguly Fragi and to participants of the international scientific conference «The Fount of wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi».

Its traditional heading «New discoveries of science» provides an article devoted to the life of the outstanding poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, whose 300th birthday anniversary is widely celebrated this year. The publication comprises a number of the facts from his works and research work of scholars who studied the biography of the great master of poetry.

The author underlines that the data of the family of Magtymguly are based on national legends and the data, obtained from descendants of the poet in different years.

The next article comes under the title «General and special features in the artistic thinking of Magtymguly and Nesimi» and its author notes that with his works Nesimi brought a big contribution to transformation of Turkic literature into an ideological-aesthetic source. Works by the poet had a special significance in the life of Turkmen in XVII-XVIII centuries. As the author of article assumes, Magtymguly who had been familiar with works by Nesimi, highly appreciated his personality and creativity. The verses from his poem «Bowl for satisfying thirst» can attest to this fact.

Like Nesimi, Magtymguly develops upon the thought that the spiritual principles lie at the heart of universe. In their works, thinkers call to aspire to knowledge, moral purity and humanism.

In the section «Interaction of cultures, peoples and civilisations», one can find the article «Lyrical verses of Magtymguly» by the teacher and professor of Oxford University. As the author underlines: «… he skilfully unites a variety of the influences taken from different genres and literary forms». Verses of Fragi, according to the scholar, differ from classical Turkic poetry and open the door for Turkmen literature.

The article «Magtymguly and Kirghiz poetry» by professor A.Akmataliyev, Director of the Institute of Language and Literature named after Chingiz Aytmatov, academician and Doctor of Philology, published in the same section is of particular interest for readers.

A special emphasis is made on the fact that basic ideas put in works by Magtymguly, also find reflection in poems of Kirghiz poets. Citing vivid examples, the author underlines some similarities of outlooks, poetic language and artistic skills of Kirghiz «akyns» and Fragi. In this connection, it is suitable here to cite the words by Chingiz Aytmatov: «The heritage of Magtymguly, left for us, is exclusively valuable thanks to the deeply national comprehension of life».

The magazine also holds the publication «Study of Magtymguly Fragi in Afghanistan» by the teacher of the department of Turkmen language and literature of Jawzjan university where scientific researches and materials devoted to creativity of the great poet and thinker of the East, language and literature, culture and traditions Afghan Turkmen are conducted.

The author recalls that in 2018 within establishment of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, the seminar «Memoirs of literary and cultural merits of Magtymguly Fragi» was held and it displayed scientific researches devoted to life and creativity of the great poet.

The article considers the influence of works by Magtymguly on the life and creativity of Afghan Turkmen. Esteeming as their mentor, they follow his style, ideological trend and literary path.
