As part of the program of events on the occasion of the proclamation of the ancient city of Anev as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024 by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), a round table was held at the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan on the topic of «Änew medeniýetiniň sungatdaky keşbi».
The museum staff who spoke at the event talked about the centuries-old history of Anev, which, as archaeologists have established, begins in the Eneolithic epoch. This is one of the oldest centres of early agricultural civilization, and its scientific research has provided unique information about a huge layer of the history of Turkmenistan called the «Anev culture». The speakers emphasized the cultural and historical significance of the priceless heritage of Anev - the Sheikh Seyit Jemal ad-Din Mosque built in the mid-15th century, ancient settlements in the territory of Anev and many artifacts found during archaeological excavations, which are stored in the National Museum «Ak Bugday» of Anev. The main topic of the conversation was the reflection of the Anev culture in various forms of art.
During the meeting, it was also noted that the TURKSOY project «Cultural Capital of the Turkic World» is designed to introduce the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples and reveal their modern creative potential. Based on the concentration of creative resources in various cities of Turkic-speaking countries, a series of humanitarian events are held based on historical ties and dialogue between the original cultures of the Turkic states.
