Representatives of Turkmenistan participated in the 11th Peace Festival in Beijing

On 20 September 2024, the 11th Peace Festival entitled «Diversity and Dialogue Indispensable Path toward Global Peace and Development» was held in the Peace Garden in Beijing. The event was organized to coincide with the International Day of Peace, celebrated annually since 21 September 2002 in accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution 55/282.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in China took an active part in the event.

The Festival was organized by the China World Peace Foundation, the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and the Beijing Peace Garden Museum with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan and the UNESCO office.

The event was attended by representatives of the Chinese Government, heads of a number of diplomatic missions accredited in Beijing, heads and representatives of international organizations, including the League of Arab States, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the SCO, UNESCO, as well as public organizations.

In his speech, Ambassador of Turkmenistan P. Durdiyev congratulated all participants on the International Day of Peace and noted the key positions of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, including the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and in the world. In particular, the messages of Magtymguly Fragi’s creative work, which correlate with Turkmenistan’s efforts to strengthen the culture of trust and dialogue between countries and nations, were underlined. In this regard, Turkmenistan’s activities on the UN platform, where the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development has also been established, were highlighted.

In the framework of the Festival, a prize-awarding ceremony of the sixth Youth Photo Contest was held. At the end of the event, a reception was held where guests were offered dishes of the national Turkmen cuisine.

The event was broadcasted online on the UNESCO channel.
