President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to consider the results of the social and economic development of the country within five months of the current year as well as a number of the key state policy issues.
Vice Premiers reported on the existing situation in the sectors under their supervision. It was reported that within the first five months of the current year, the GDP growth made up 110.9 percent. This indicator has been reached due to the high results achieved in a number of sectors, including industry, construction, trade, transport and communications. The growth of the retail trade turnover increased as many as 14.7 percent as compared to the previous year, the volumes of the foreign trade turnover increased as many as 1.5 times as compared to the same period of 2011, and the indicator on providing the paid services increased up to 14.5 percent.
Summing up the reporting period, the State budget revenues significantly exceeded the expenditures, in particular the revenues made up 117 percent, the expenditures – 94.1 percent. As compared to the same period of the last year, the average monthly wage increased up to 10.8 percent. The volume of budgetary funds used has increased as many as 39.9 percent within January-May, 2012.
The Vice Premiers also reported on the preparations for organization and holding the 22d meeting of the Regional Planning Council of the Economic Cooperation Organisation in Ashgabat on June 11-13. The key aspects of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan within the reporting period were highlighted during the meeting. The fact that 275 foreign delegations visited Turkmenistan within January-May vividly proves the increasing dynamics of cooperation with foreign partners. At the same period of time, 272 delegations representing Turkmenistan visited foreign countries. The Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on the preparations for the working visit of the Government Delegation of Turkmenistan to the People’s Republic of China to take part in the 12th meeting of the Council of Heads of State, members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation on June 5-7. The Vice Premier informed the Turkmen leader on the preparations for holding the International Conference “Ancient Merv is the Center of the World Culture” in Mary on June 6. The Vice Premiers reported on the progress in implementing the seasonal agricultural works, including the grain harvesting campaign.
The Vice Premiers reported on the preparations for summer holiday events to be organized for children from our country and the CIS member states in Avaza on June 3-13, as well as the International Children’s Festival on June 9, and preparations for the International Exhibition “Achievements and Prospects of the Textile Industry of Turkmenistan” on June 2 and the scientific conference on June 3. It was also reported on the progress in developing the transport sphere, trade, oil and gas complex and other industries.

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution “On approving “the General Programme of Turkmenistan on developing the legal system on under-ages”, underlined the significance of this document as an important step towards the further improving the legal proceedings based on humanistic principles. The Turkmen leader signed the resolutions on approving the plan of works of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan in line with the world standards.
