Well known not only in Turkmenistan, but also in the region Central Asian literary critic, Doctor of Philology Akhmet Mammedov did not live long enough to see today celebrations on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the genius of the East, poet Magtymguly Fragi.
These days it is two years since one of the prominent admirers and researchers of the poetry of the great Magtymguly. By in the opinion of friends, colleagues and relatives of Akhmet Agha, a significant part the literary scholar devoted his career to studying creativity of your favorite poet, translations of his poems.
Like many of his peers, A. Mammedov was born in 1942, in as a child, he experienced all the hardships of the post-war years. In school classes in his native village of Aktepe, and then in neighboring Kunya Urgench he learned basic literacy. However, significant the young man’s interest in literature was instilled in him a little later by his father – Gadam Mammedov, who wrote fairy tales and was passionate about poetry. In 1957 in the newspaper “Biziň Watanymyz” of the Kunyaurgench etrap the first poem by Akhmet Mammedov is published. Later, studying at the Turkmen State University, Akhmet Mammedov continues to write poetry, regularly publishing in the newspaper "Mugallymlar gazeti" ("Teacher's newspaper"). Since then his poems and poems are regularly published in a variety of publications. Passion for Magtymguly's lyrics leads the young poet to scientific research of the native language and the basics of versification. For many years he has been working at the Institute of Language of the Academy of Sciences Turkmenistan. In 1973, A. Mammedov defended his Ph.D. dissertation on the topic “Turkmen themes in the poetry of the East”, and in 1991 - he is already a Doctor of Philology. In total for A. Mammedov has over 200 scientific papers.
Creation of the National Institute of Language, Literature and Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan became the place where Akhmet’s literary and scientific activities Mammedova manifested herself in all her versatility and diversity. Research papers appear one after another.
Many of they are dedicated to the creativity, life and work of Magtymguly. The genius of poetry's passion for the lyricism leads him to a joint activities with Uzbek literary scholars on translation of poetry Magtymguly into the languages of the peoples of the Central Asian region. Ahmet Mammedov established creative contacts with “kindred” souls from Uzbekistan. And therefore the lion's share translations of the poet's poems are carried out into the Uzbek language.
One of our close colleagues in the translation workshop is passionate researchers of Magtymguly's creativity – Uzbek poets and scientists Kerimbai Kurambaev and Ergash Ochilov. Last in 2017, the Tashkent publishing house "TASVIR" published collection of selected poems by Magtymguly in Uzbek language, which opens with the opening speech of the President Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyeva.
Today we know well, and this is quite understandable, that 300-summer anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in accordance with the decision government of Uzbekistan is also widely celebrated and fraternal Uzbek people. Anniversary celebrations are celebrated and many other peoples of the world, where Magtymguly’s poetry found its spread and greatness.
Our book publishers specially for the anniversary of the poet Magtymguly released Akhmet Mammedov’s book “Makhtumkuli in Literature Turkic peoples", which summarizes a lot of material about studying the immortal works of an outstanding thinker East by Turkic-speaking writers, about various publications poetry collections of Magtymguly in Turkic languages. Author notes that Turkic-speaking readers consider Magtymguly Fragi as his national poet. In the new book of the scientist and poet Akhmet Mammedov collected interesting scientific information and facts.
Dovlet Akhmedovich Mammedov (Son of Akhmet Mammedov), now is a research fellow at the Center for Strategic research of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turkmenistan, recalls: “In the last years of his life, father worked hard to prepare new books about creativity the great Magtymguly, some of them have already appeared in books stores, others are waiting their turn.
Life and creativity Magtymguly is so rich that the current generation new, hitherto unknown secrets are to be discovered works of the great poet of the East. It's also good that my father has many of his students who are also passionate about the work of our great poet."
Magtymguly is an outstanding son of the Turkmen people, his philosophical and poetic heritage belongs to the entire East and the world in general. And it is no coincidence that today by invitation President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at celebrating the poet's anniversary, guests and admirers from many countries of the world.
