Today, the 41st meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the member countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture took place at the “Aşgabat” hotel in the capital, which became one of the main events on the occasion of the proclamation of the ancient Turkmen city Anau as the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" in 2024.
It’s commonly known that, this honorary title is awarded to famous cities - monuments of the great past, which reflect the spiritual and historical traditions and milestones in the formation of Turkic-speaking countries, serving as an evidence of the precious contribution of our common ancestors in development of universal civilization.
Due to scientific researches of Anau, to whose ancient culture President Serdar Berdimuhamedov dedicated the book “Änew - müňýyllyklardan gözbaş alýan medeniýet” (“Anau - culture originated of millennia”), is recognized as one of the oldest centers of world agriculture and an important center of one of the developed civilizations of the past.
Therefore, the discovery of the Anau culture at the end of the 19th century was very important not only for Turkmenistan, but also for the study of the history of agriculture of the whole Ancient East.
This fertile land has fully absorbed the flavor and variety of the richest heritage of the Turkmen people, who carefully passed from generation to generation and can save to the present day the original, native national cultural and spiritual and moral traditions.
The participants of the meeting sincerely admired modern Turkmenistan, which can rightfully be proud not only of its glorious history of thousand-year history and today's beautiful representation, which has become a reflection of the creative power of the revival era of a new powerful state.
The members of the Supreme Body of the International Turkic Culture Organization highly appreciated the events that were held by co-operative efforts in this year, which is taking place under the sign of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi and declared by the decision of TURKSOY as the Year of this great humanist poet and philosopher of the East.
In them – II Theater Festival of the member countries of the International Organization of Turkic Culture, in which forums of writers and artists of the TURKSOY member countries were held, the “Gorkut Ata” International Film Festival, which has just ended, in the same way international thematic conferences, competitions, various exhibitions, creative meetings and collaborative concerts.
Underlining the importance of dynamic advance of cultural and humanitarian dialogue, the participants expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the hospitable greeting and excellent organization of all these important events, which became a significant contribution to further strengthening the couplement of friendship and brotherhood between the Turkic-speaking peoples.
Words of immense gratitude were addressed to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their full support and multifaceted activities aimed at expanding traditional cooperation between the member countries of TURKSOY.
During the meeting, concrete decisions were discussed and adopted regarding the intensification of collaborative efforts in the priority areas of the organization's work aimed at the preservation, study and promotion at the international level of spiritual values and historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking nations.
The Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture considered all the recommendations and proposals received from the Member Countries and, taking them into account, approved the TURKSOY Activity Program for the coming 2025.
