As was reported President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left on a working visit for the People’s Republic of China to take part in the 12th Meeting of the Council of Heads of the SCO Member States as a Guest of Honour. The high ranking officials bade farewell to the Turkmen leader at the Ashgabat International Airport.
As is known, independent neutral Turkmenistan under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov actively implements the strategy for wide constructive cooperation with all countries of the world in the bilateral and multi-lateral format, including within the framework of leading international and regional organisations in order to strengthen peace, security, stability, as well as sustainable economic and social development. The wide experience of successful joint work with the SCO member states have been accumulated within the past years.
It should be noted that the President of Turkmenistan as the Guest of Honour took part in the SCO summit, in particular in the capital of Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek in 2007, and in 2010 in the capital of Uzbekistan – Tashkent. This year’s meeting of the heads of the SCO member states is held in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China due to the presidency of China over the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation for 2011-2012.
Participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the 12th Meeting of the Council of Heads of the SCO Member States, where the priorities and key trends of activity of this structure will be defined, and the urgent issues of the international policy will be considered, serves as a bright evidence of the invariable adherence of the Turkmen state to the progressive peacemaking course and increasing international authority of our country.
After an hours-long flight, the President’s airliner landed at the Beijing Airport.The President’s cortege headed from the airport to the official residence in the picturesque corner of the western part of Beijing.
Within the framework of the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to China, the Turkmen leader will have a meeting with Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao at the Great Hall of the People. During the meeting the leaders of the two friendly countries will discuss various aspects of the intergovernmental relations, and prospects for further enhancing the trading and economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, as well as will exchange their views on the urgent issues of the world policy, global challenges of the modern time related to strengthening peace, stability and security all over the world.
Within the framework of the Turkmen leader’s working visit to China, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will visit the central office of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), an old and large partner of our country in the strategic Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in the fuel and energy complex. It is expected that the ceremony of signing the Framework agreement between the Turkmengaz State Concern and the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan, who arrived in Beijing on the eve of the Turkmen leader’s visit, held a number of meetings and talks with their Chinese colleagues. In particular, the members of the Turkmen Government and heads of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, leading banks, including Bank of China and Bank of Kunlun, as well as the central offices of the CNPC, Huawei, Lenovo, Jum Shui Chinese Companies.
During the meeting the parties exchanged their views on the issues of further fostering the Turkmen-Chinese partnership that received high dynamics and new content within the last years.
