Turkmen students won 30 medals at International Olympiad in Mathematics in Poland

30 medals of various merits were won by Turkmen students at International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM), organized by the Silesian University in Katowice and by the Silesian Branch of the Polish Mathematical society from November 8-10. 6 gold, 9 silver, 11 bronze, in total, 26 medals were awarded to students from Turkmenistan in the individual competition of the Olympiad.

3 gold medals added to the piggy bank of students' achievements Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University, 2 gold medals are on the account of students of the International University of Humanities and Development and 1 more gold medal from Engineering and Technological University of Turkmenistan named after Oguz Khan.

9 silver and 11 bronze medals were won by students of these universities, as well as the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan, and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute. Seyitnazar Seidi, Turkmen State Institute of Economics and management, S.A.Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the Turkmen Agricultural Institute.

Turkmen students received 4 more medals - 1 silver and 3 bronze in the team competitions of the Olympiad. The solemn ceremony of awarding our students who won prizes at the Olympiad in Poland took place at the Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University.

Students of 10 universities of our country took part in the International Student Team Olympiad in Mathematics. In general, about 160 students from 35 universities in 9 countries performed at the site of the prestigious mathematical review, including England, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The competition was open to all interested representatives of the students of higher educational institutions of the world. It brought together undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students with a special interest in mathematics. In the individual part, the participants were offered five tasks in such areas as mathematical analysis (with topology and set theory), functional equations (including differential equations), algebra and combinatorics, geometry and linear algebra, probability theory. The command part consisted of ten tasks.

The Olympiad was held in order to maintain a keen interest in mathematics, encourage the development of all mathematically gifted students, strengthen friendly relations between students and teachers of participating universities, promote the formation of interpersonal communication skills, as well as expand international cooperation in the field of education.
