Today, Magtymguly Turkmen State University hosted a grand closing ceremony of the III International Chemistry Olympiad, organized by the university for students from higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and abroad.
More than 200 students from leading universities of 13 countries participated in the Olympiad. Over 130 students came from 21 domestic universities. More than 80 students represented 12 foreign countries, including Russia, China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and others.
The Olympiad included individual and team competitions. Students specializing in chemistry (Category A) and those from other fields of study (Category B) participated. Competitors tackled complex theoretical and practical problems in inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as organic and analytical chemistry.
65 prizes were awarded in Category A: 13 first places, 20 second places and 32 third places. Gold medals were won by students from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Novosibirsk State University, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after P. Lumumba, and Belarusian State University.
Silver medals in this category were claimed by 9 students from Turkmen universities and 11 students from universities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and China.
Bronze medals were awarded to 14 representatives from Turkmen universities and 18 participants from universities of Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran and China.
45 prizes were awarded in Category B: 9 first places, 13 second places and 23 third places.
The top nine winners in this category included students from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Turkmen State Medical University named after M. Garryev, Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University, as well as Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
Thirty second and third places went to students from Turkmen universities. Eight prize-winners were international participants from Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China and Romania.
In the team competitions in Category A, the first place was won by students from Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. The second place was shared by teams from Lomonosov Moscow State University and Novosibirsk State University. Third place went to teams from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after P. Lumumba, and D. I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia.
The best teams in Category B were Magtymguly Turkmen State University (first place), Beijing University of Chemical Technology (second place), and Turkmen State Medical University named after M. Garryev (third place).
During the ceremonial closing of the III International Chemistry Olympiad, winners and prize-winners were awarded medals and diplomas. Certificates of participation were presented to distinguished Turkmen and foreign students.
The International Chemistry Olympiad brought together young talents from different countries around the world and became an effective platform for their development, support and interaction. It allowed participants to exchange advanced experiences and valuable knowledge while significantly expanding friendly and scientific-educational ties between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and abroad.
