The competition of rapid and blitz in Ashgabat ended the Turkmenistan chess championship among juniors under 20 years old, held in three formats.

The competitions were held at a specialized chess and draughts school, where more than 100 chess players competed for the title of the strongest.

In the rapid format, each player is allocated 15 minutes for the whole game with an addition of 10 seconds per turn, and in the blitz (lightning chess) each player has 3 minutes to play, and the addition per turn is only 2 seconds.

In the men’s rapid tournament won the student of Turkmen state architectural and construction institute Vepali Khalyniyazov, who before that won gold in «classic». In the blitz with a 100% result, the 2016 world champion among boys under 8 years old, candidate for FIDE master Shageldi Kurbandurdiev, who also won the bronze medal in the rapid tournament. Two bronze and one silver in various disciplines won the student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Amammuhammet Hommadov.

It’s a reminder that for A. Hommadov and V. Khalyniyazov, the last year turned out to be very successful: at the 45th World Chess Olympiad in Budapest (Hungary) they won small gold medals in the "B" category as part of the men's national team of Turkmenistan, finishing in 24th place among 188 teams in the overall standings.

In the competition among girls, the fight for the highest prize spread between the sisters Shohradov - 19-year-old Lala and 18-year-old Leila, who last year, as part of the women's national team of Turkmenistan won small gold medals at the above-mentioned Olympics in category «C», taking the final 32 place among 169 teams in the overall standings. Lala was out of competition in the «classic» and rapide, and Leila won in the blitz. Other younger native of the Lebab Province - 15-year-old Jahan Redjepova and Mehreh Agamuradov won silver and bronze in rapide and blitz.

At the closing ceremony, the winners and prize-winners were presented with medals and gifts from the sponsors of the tournament, including the insurance company "Resmi Kepil", the chess academy "Küşt Älemi", the stationery store "Globus", the B2B marketplace ALSAT.com.tm.
